Thermometers - Maximum and Minimum

‪@Samwel731‬ A Maximum thermometer is a weather instrument that is used to measure the highest temperature of air. A Minimum thermometer is used to measure the lowest temperature of air. Both thermometers are mounted at two degrees to the horizontal on a wooden stand in a Stevenson screen. The maximum thermometer has mercury in the bulb and in the stem; the minimum thermometer uses alcohol as the measuring liquid. The maximum thermometer has a constriction just after the bulb to ensure that the mercury does not move back in the bulb when air temperature starts falling; the minimum thermometer consists of a bulb, black glass index and a stem with a scale in Degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature is indicated by the end of the index away from the bulb.
