Did you find the ambient temp to be accurate?

I recently cooked an 8-lb pork butt. I believe the ambient thermometer is accurate, but a large piece of meat like that cools the air right next to it where the ambient temp is read, so it’s cooler than the actual temp of the grill. I’d recommend a second thermometer away from the meat a bit for truly accurate ambient temp w large cuts of meat.

Pork is safe at 145F! 160 is nasty dry crap.

I went by the temp reco on the tempspike. But yes, I think it could have been cooked less. Applesauce helped.
