May I know what code/clues you can see on OBD? My engine overheat with temp gauge at 75% breifely but no code on OBD. OBD read coolant max temp at 114·C but coolant temp returns normal at idle. No coolant lost so far.

Thanks for sharing the video mate. I've got an '02 Sentra SE-R Spec V with the same 2.5L motor as the Altima. Most repair videos regarding Sentra's are only for the 1.8L, so I often have to resort to Altima video's to get help. Now if only the cold weather would go away so I can change my thermostats, I hate working on cars in the cold, lol.

@El Chano Jose Amazing video! It's one of the most detailed and professional videos I've seen in a while! Thank you so much. I have one question... while you are waiting for the vehicle to get to operating temp during the "burping process" should/can I turn on the heat or AC in the vehicle?
@Bflo23 Жыл бұрын
Put the HEAT on all the way to high and fan on the lowest setting. This makes sure all the coolant is flowing to your heater. Rev the engine to 2.5 and let it run for like 30 seconds. Do that a couple times. I even raised my car on front ramps during this process as air escapes to the highest point and that makes the radiator cap higher point. It helps get air pockets out easier. I used the no spill funnel kit and it makes it easier.

Ok I have a question I have the 2002 3.5 V6 and I'm seeing alot of stuff about it having 2 thermostats mines leaking around the top radiator hose on the bell hosing engine side hose is building too much pressure . I guess my question does the V6 have 2 thermostats
@elchanojose2 жыл бұрын
Hello Josh! The 3.6 is only equipped with one thermostat. If you buy the thermostat, it will probably come with the aluminum housing so you replace the housing and thermostat. I recommend you comparing prices from the dealer to the regular auto parts store so you can see if they cost the same or not. On this components, we recommend to use Nissan parts so you have more peace of mind with the part working more properly. Take well care Josh!

I'm trying to use head gasket sealer on my Altima which requires the removal of the thermostat. Does that mean I have to remove both thermostats?
@elchanojose Жыл бұрын
Hello Greatest! I would do that, remove both thermostats. If the instructions on how to use this head gasket sealer specified to remove the thermostat, then I would removed them. If the thermostat is not removed, then this might affect the performance of this head gasket sealer to do it’s job. Always follow the product instructions on how to make it do it’s jobs so you don’t end up with a bad outcome. This products not always seal like the product claims to do but you need to follow the instructions. Take well care Greatest!

After researching online, seeing conflicting videos, tutorials, and even diagrams that come with aftermarket replacement parts, I got ahold of a seasoned Nissan dealership mechanic who confirmed for me that BOTH thermostats in the 02-12 4cyl (qr25de) altima go COIL SPRING INWARDS (ie toward the block). This is a pretty critical determination I'd say, so please correct the content of this KZbin video if and when you can!
@billymatthews102 жыл бұрын
I have watched four videos that show replacement of thermostats for 2001-2005 Altimas and every video I have seen show the thermostats in this video are positioned correctly.
@zoinbergs2 жыл бұрын
@@billymatthews10 Well, I finally tracked down the official FSM for my '05 Altima, and sure enough, it has a detailed diagram showing, once again, both thermostats facing COIL TO BLOCK. So yeah, I'll be going with the official documentation on this matter, as should everybody else. This video should be revised or removed for propagating such dangerous misinformation.
@billymatthews102 жыл бұрын
@@zoinbergs I just replaced both of my thermostats on my 2005 Altima it's time to swallow my pride and say that you were right. Both thermostats springs were positioned with the spring inside the engine (pointy tip out). The thermostat at 10:44 is backwards from how mine was. You were right sir!

What could happens if I only could replace the big thermostat but I could no open the area for the little one.?
@elchanojose Жыл бұрын
Hello Vilma! By replacing only one thermostat, you are doing half of the replacement and that’s ok, but remember that if the small thermostat fails you can be in overheating problem. We are not saying that is going to happen for sure but it will help prevent an overheating by replacing both thermostat. Is like replacing brake pads, always replacing both pads per rotor and not just one. Over all, you could be ok but you have 50% of chance of a overheating problem sooner. Take well care Vilma!

Does the thermostat small. Hole have to be at 12 o clock if not what happens
@elchanojose4 ай бұрын
Hello! That hole is recommended to be at 12 o clock to help air move faster out of the engine, but if is not installed at 12 o clock is not going to cause damage or overheating. Is just recommended. Take well care!
