Great input for rookies and pro's. As a really Old Gray Hair with 40 + years of diligent sales psychology learning through trial and a lot of error... I have one suggestion for your further consideration... I would not ask 'if they have any objections to a free roof inspection.' ( that in my mind is a bit of a negative approach presentation... ) You are potentially opening a door for them to decline... My suggestion for your consideration is to say 'would it be helpful for you if I could give you a quick no cost professional independent look up there for you just to take a few pictures to confirm that what you have been told is accurate and nothing really important was missed? 👍🍻 The Old Guy

As a roofing salesman for 10yrs in south Florida. I can tell you it is not a horrible idea to offer a free inspection if you have a maintenance company within your company which any company should have. Now i usually get them into our maintenance program after we do a new roof. Which is the preferred way but I wouldn’t say don’t do it or never do it.

And I’ve been using this crap wondering why my take rate at the door is in the teens! Friggin gold, Adam!

First off - THANK YOU for the comment. Second of all - don't demonize yourself or the company. It took me a long time to figure this one out. It may shift how they decide to do things :) Also, watch this video to learn how to ask for the inspection when the time is right: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5Owq5V8mJeFeqM That was a huge breakthrough for me too. Great question, Avi! Easy peasy. I teach this in my CANVASSING Strategy -- when you are first (or fresh) in a neighborhood, just say, "Hey I'm speaking with neighbors here on STREET NAME." The goal is to make it as familiar as possible. Then, after you have a few convos you can start name dropping and pointing. But the point is to be authentic, real and truthful. The truth is, you are talking to people on their street. See the difference? Hope this answers your question. If not, fire away with more!

Adam, it is simply impossible for the average homeowner to know whether or not they have hail or wind damaged, premature wear, manufacturing defects, damage from trees, squirrels, etc unless they have had an inspection from a qualified roof inspector that they Trust. Keywords being qualified and trusted! You have to remember that in Florida we cannot bait or our customers into taking an inspection because of hail or wind or insurance claim. We must push that they haven't gotten an inspection recently or from a trusted qualified inspector. Or that their roof is old and it needs to be inspected and an estimated for re-roofing so that the homeowner knows what kind of expense they are looking at.
@TheRoofStrategist2 жыл бұрын
Hey Tracy, you bring up very valid points. Regarding Flordida -- certain aspects of the law (pertaining to communication and outreach about roof damage) was deemed unconstitutional and there is an injunction against that aspect of the bill. Watch this video if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnPdlnyrmNxmjcU
@traceyjscott0692 жыл бұрын
@@TheRoofStrategist adam, my understanding about that injunction had to do with the unconstitutional nature of offering free estimates and free inspections. I don't believe that that had anything to do with baiting a customer with possible hail damage or wind damage or other damage to make a claim to get a new roof for just the cost of their deductible. I believe that sort of approach is still deemed unlawful in the state of Florida. That being said I don't agree with it that part also is unconstitutional! Freedom of speech is still freedom of speech! You may not like what someone has to say you don't have to believe what someone says has to say. But no matter what they have the right to say it if they have justifiable grounds to say it. If they don't have the damage on their roof to justify the claim then making the claim then becomes an unlawful act. But if in fact they do have damage then there's nothing wrong with making that claim. It's all very simple! They're just trying to make it as complicated as they can to justify means to an end!

Great question. And I like how you are efficient with your time and targeting! If you're in a hail/wind area and the neighboring houses are hit, then it makes sense to stop. Some good thoughts here although the 57% is far from a justified statistical analysis. You can’t say 57% of homeowners when you’re just talking about these made up emotional states. I would highly doubt that all customers in the world are equally distributed with one of the seven emotional states he talked about in the video. If a roofer showed up at my door and was throwing out numbers like that I probably would lose trust lol that being said I like most of this guy’s contact and will continue watching
@TheRoofStrategist3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ronald, you bring up a GREAT point. In fact, I would edit what I said in this video. You are right - all customers are not equally distributed among these 7 emotional states. It would be a better if I had stated that 57% applies to the majority of emotional states, not customer distribution. That being said, applying this to the real world, you'll find that these different mindsets seem to appear in trends based on the "storm cycle" or "psychology of the storm." You'll also find trends in particular neighborhoods (like working fringe areas vs ground zero etc). Hope this clarifies my intended message. Thank you for the thoughtful comment!
