I lost one job for a similar reason. my boss insisting that I had to learn his language because I was in his country or some BS like that and when I got tired I said to him: "On my free time I am the boss and I do what I want, I don't want anybody here telling me what to do when I'm not at work". 2 days later I was told I wouldn't continue working with them.
