Did a quick fact check, you will never find is Alicia Myers not ann pebbles, I say that to say this Teedra Quest and phonte have shaped my musical landscape for close to 20 years ain’t now way they gonna mention a sample and I not tear the internet up trying to find it. This is the dopest podcast and this episode EVERYBODY brought something to the table. Ya I missed it by a year but I’m here now 😂😂. Teedra, that ALBUM hit the moment I decided to tap into 'Be Your Girl' properly as a teen. It still hits different even all these years later. I remember the first time I saw her in my city, when 'Backstroke' started playing the room was a full on choir. Men, women everyone in their bedroom feelings but in a shared space. A CLASSIC.

I feel like that mix was made for soulless white people and the fact that it has eclipsed the original in popularity on Spotify (usually biased towards black music and black artists) says a lot about our society but I digress.
