Speech from Arrested Development joins Questlove Supreme for a comprehensive interview. The multi-talent discusses his Milwaukee origins and asserts his proper place as an Atlanta Hip Hop pioneer. Speech speaks openly about Arrested Developments' triumphs and tribulations, including sampling Prince, classic songs inspired by painful events, and the challenges of keeping a sprawling collective together. This interview is real, raw, and relatable-just like Speech's music.

what speech describes about food sharing is something that is so important. i remember my granddad (i grew up in england) would always grow an excess of vegetables (tomatoes, onions, beetroot, cabbage, lettuce, rhubarb, peppers, leeks all kinds of stuff) and he would share it around our local area. one of the capitalists' common tools for disempowering the poor is to disconnect us from growing our food, and especially, sharing the food we grow. another tool they use is to disconnect us from each other is to hide our shared experiences. humans, no matter where we are in the world, like to grow food and share the food we grow.

The fact that Speech didn't know about the award wins adds to Phonte's point.

I would love to try his family's roasted corn. Here in Minnesota grilled corn is amazing and a big deal at the State Fair. I can only imagine how good his is.

I was in heaven listening to this - all that history (musical and otherwise)! Arrested Development (and Digable Planets - please do an episode with them!) were my first favorite musical groups as a pre-teen. Later, with “Illadelph Halflife”, I became a loyal Roots fan. I never realized there was a connection between all of you…I guess it just means I have excellent musical taste!

@thehustleseason why do you have to compare her to Black Thought? She's an emcee. Maybe not one that you like. She's an emcee. Her success came with producing which she still does to this day. Give her flowers.
