My Theory: Steven has been struggling with everything that has to do with the Gems and repressing everything to do with his mother. Steven will learn to except his mother for the being she was and realize that what she originally wanted for Steven is what he really needs. She wanted Steven to be a human being, and that's how I think this show will end. Steven will leave Beach City to explore his humanity, and take a much needed break from Gem activity.

I’ve seen a lot of people calling Steven an “irredeemable character” after this, but I don’t agree. In order to be redeemed, you have to realize you messed up and want to do better. Big check for positive there. It was an accident- Steven was on what I’ve been calling a “freedom high,” feeling like he didn’t have to hold back anymore and could just embrace who he was, both power-wise and just mental-wise. Of course, this bites him back, leading to him more than likely thinking that he has to get these under control, and if he’s a Diamond, then that means there are three alternatives he can go to for help. But Steven seeing himself as a Diamond, I 100% back that statement. While watching the end scene of Fragments, there is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it frame of Steven opening up the medicine cabinet. He meets his own eyes in his reflection, and winces, opening it quickly so he doesn’t have to look at himself anymore. It’s heartbreaking, but just further shows that he can be redeemed. This is something that’s going to be a team effort; Steven and his Messiah complex can’t solve this one alone. Because let’s face it, that’s all he’s ever done in his life. The only times others have helped him solve problems before was when they were experiencing conflict with the same person he was trying to fix (Lapis and Peridot when they realized the other was living there, Malachite, Pearl and Greg, ect.) Other than that, he’s been on his own. I’ll stop talking now. There is more now that Homeworld Bound released, but I don’t want to say any spoilers for those who haven’t watched the episode yet.

3:50 If you notice it starts at his cheeks like blush so maybe it was triggered by humiliation and embarrassment of not being able to beat Jasper my personal theory is this all started after his encounter with spinel and yes everyone saying oh it's from White Diamond pulling out his gem but I don't think so I think maybe it was from spinel hitting him with the rejuvenator so he got his power reset and I think he was embarrassed that he couldn't even use his powers anymore and (when the events happened of the movie he wasn't turning pink because he had no powers) so when he got his powers back this pink ability came with it getting his powers back and are triggered by embarrassment or shame shame of destroying Jasper which is why he flared up and turned into a monster after revealing everything he is embarrassed and he's ashamed of everything ( I believe it was the rejuvenator another reason it started happening after the rejuvenator and it happened sooner after the rejuvenator than it did when he got his gym taken out in the events of change your mind

I think this situation, and SUF in general, is also shedding light in the horrors of pathology. Stevens, no matter how hard he tried, developed terrible traits of his mother, and is hurting people left and right because of his own personal problems and hurt. Sound familiar? Just a thought

We've already seen jasper's corrupted form, and it doesn't look like the big worm guy. I think that steven is gonna try to go out of his way to "help" people to try to convince himself that he's not like his mom or the other diamonds....but no matter how hard he tries, hes just actually "making it worse"(quoting white). Steven's powers were always based on his emotions, like in 'too many birthdays' he felt old, so he became old. If he feels like he's exactly like pink, even though he's not her, he will feel like a monster. And if he feels like a monster....I think we can all guess what happens there

This was my favorite episode of the season, Jasper's method seemed good for a moment, having Steven vent his stress and hunger with physical training, a common way to vent one's feelings into an outlet that won't hurt him or anyone around... Well, it would be good if it wasn't for the fact that the outletwas battle training... Seeing Steven's powers when he had no restrained was chilling, also seeing him grow into a buff manly guy with a new haircut reminded me of Steg which I loved, sadly the design wasn't kept and he went back to his default form again... Also, that laugh... THat damn laugh froze me for 10 seconds in shock....

Man this episode had me pacing the floor back and forth. That beginning with the gems talking to steven felt too close to home. I like the horns on Jasper helmet. That fight with with steven and jasper was awesome but when he shattered Jasper I SCREAMED

I really hope that if steven ends up moving away, it ends up being either at the end of I am my Monster, or the beginning of Future, because this could allow time to explain WHAT is in Steven's future. It could explain to us what he did on his travels, and even give it in the format of Letters to Lars, but this time being a letter to Beach City. This would bring it full circle from Greg leaving his family, and sending letters back to them, only to show that his family will actually read them.

I'll admit that my four year old sister got me into this show. I wasn't really sure about this magic belly button kid. But now, I REALLY LOVE THIS SHOW! It has such a good story and great carachters! This is my favorite cartoon, and when it ends I don't think I'll ever find a show as good as Steven Universe. My sister (who is now 6) and I can't wait to see what's in store next for Steven. I will always love this show!!!

I think you missed an opportunity to discuss one thing that really stuck out to me: the fact that Jasper saw Steven pretty much as an equal. And that helped him in a time when he really NEEDED someone to push him, support him without coddling him, and take him seriously. And that makes the end that much more awful. When she bows, when she calls him 'My Diamond' - that's the _end_ of their relationship as equals. He's lost yet another support, pretty much one of his last ones on Earth. He has nowhere to go now but Homeworld, really.

I really love the route that Steven Universe Future is going; it's already cemented its own identity separate from Steven Universe. I've been watching Steven Universe since episode one and even though it's still intended for kids, I also feel like it's now grown up with its original audience in a way. With SU we definitely got some episodes/moments that were a gut punch, but the latter half of SU Future has been very consistently emotionally charged. The themes are much darker, the storyline is becoming much heavier, and it seems like things are going to continue to get more messed up from here. And even though it's bittersweet I can't wait for the finale episodes. The Crewniverse have outdone themselves with this.
