@@noh1312 In fact, when The Walt Disney Company bought Marvel Entertainment, it caused problems for Sony in terms of rights. So they made a deal to give the TV rights back to Marvel in order to keep the movie rights. As a result, Sony lost the production rights to The Spectacular Spider-Man while Marvel did not have the rights to continue it, resulting in Ultimate Spider-Man (its reboot by Marvel Animation).

If this series decides to have Norman know Peter's identity from the beginning, I'd like to see a more sympathetic (but not entirely redeemable) take on The Green Goblin. For a second, imagine Norman assisting Spiderman. The government discovers his projects and force him to create a super soldier serum that would put US soldiers on the same level as superheroes like Daredevil or Spidey himself. (If they go the MCU route, this could be the government attempting to imitate Captain America.) The experiment goes horribly wrong, and Norman is only able to survive thanks to his Green Goblin serum. When he wakes up, he is horrified as he realizes the lengths humanity will go to to achieve ultimate power. As a result, he adopts the identity of the Green Goblin. He is a villain and a superpower supremacist who wants to rebuild the world in his image, similar to the Sam Ramey trilogy. But here's the twist: he's not doing it because an evil voice in his head is controlling him; instead, he honestly believes he's doing the right thing. He aspires to build a world free of war and conflict, a world where Harry can be safe. And he doesn't care if he has to kill villains or heroes to accomplish his goal. Spiderman must convince Norman to fight the serum, to fight his newfound desire for vengeance, while Harry must accept that this may have been Norman's desire all along, that the incident may have been the catalyst that pushed him over the edge.

Almost every adaptation of Norman we've had has been a more sympathetic take to some degree or another except Spectacular. We have to put up with the skin crawling discomfort of Peter cozying up to the man who murdered his GF turned magically good in the comics at this very moment. If we get yet another tragic villain mentor rather than the fun of Norman genuinely respecting Peter but having sinister intent, but this time without Peter knowing, I am going to be crushed.

I just want Peter to be a solo hero, and while that may be the case earlier on, there's a reason most of his supporting cast is full of future heroes. And I'm happy it's not in the MCU. Not even because of the lack of recognizable villains. I don't mind that and liked Beware the Batman despite not having popular villains. But the time between the origin and Civil War is very limiting. Also, I'd get sick of it if every single cartoon was related to the MCU.

They previously worked on Justice League Unlimited, Teen Titans, and Batman The Brave And The Bold. Ultimate Spiderman was a fantastic Spiderman series. It took the "Great Power, Great Responsibility " motive and interpreted it as being something that would drive him to get former training under Shield. AND it's one of the best series for showing Peter as actually growing along with his situation over its whole duration. He grows into the ultimate Spider agent leading a team by the end of the first season, overcoming that growth by preventing the normal "sadistic choice" disaster Osborn causes through his developed shield skills in an impossible seeming situation. Then he goes on to recruit/inspire and build a new team before a character like Taskmaster can do they same and send them on a dark path. And then he takes things further by leading the best Spiderman group that he can after a multiverse event.

To be honest I am NOT excited for the new Spidey show, mostly because it would be related to the main MCU, which limits the creative potential of writers as they cannot deviate too much from what was established in the MCU. Granted, the two previous Spidey shows deviated so much that the they where mostly team-up series and never concentrated on Peter, as new heroes/characters where introduced that took away what makes Spidey interesting. What made Spectacular Spider-man the best Spidey show was the fact that the series concentrated on Peter and his rogue gallery, mashing together aspects from both the comics and other media, but also having more darker moments and drama.

I think what makes this interesting to me so far is that this does feel like a legit variant of the main MCU Spider-Man where despite sharing a lot of similar elements it has it's own share of major differences like how the screenshot implies that Spidey may have Norman be his mentor in this series as opposed to Tony in the MCU films so technically this still counts as part of the MCU just as a variant which allows more free room to add in more traditional Spiderman stories and elements without stepping on the toes of Sony. So if that's the case I hope they decide to get a little creative with what they have going and bring a lot of new things to the table. Like if the Avengers are here which is likely the case they can go for a more twisted route and have them take more cues from the Ultimates which is basically a more flawed and messed up take on the famous team with Norman being basically it's Iron Man thus driving home the point about why the theme of responsibility is so important to keep for Peter as Spiderman.

OK ok hear me out In the comics, aren't there a lot of different afterlifes that Marvel could choose from? What if, in the 5 years he's dead, Peter is in some kind of afterlife, desperately trying to get out. Not necessarily a bad afterlife - it could be very pleasant. Perhaps in the afterlife he believes he didn't die and that Thanos was defeated. But once he learns he's dead... Well, the paradise feels more like a prison. Sure, all his needs are met and everything he could ever want can be at him, but.... It feels hollow once he finally learns he's dead. Because he knows that in the living world, people are dying and he wants to help them so badly. This would also be an extremely interesting way to let Peter meet more multiverse Spidermen and other heroes who have died in action, across the multiverse. At first he doesn't know what to do, but then he starts recruiting them to help him find a way back to life, at least for long enough to defeat Thanos. Now the REAL INTERESTING idea I have is... What if he has to finally make some "deal with the devil" to get out. Like, maybe he has to do something very dangerous or kinda immoral for him, or else his life will be taken back...

Hey don't do ultimate dirty like that! If it weren't for that show I would have never gotten my Spidey obsession reignited or had my first Introduction to the concept of the spiderverse, which would contribute to me wanting to watch into the spiderverse. I feel like for people who "grew out" of comics or just Spidey, as well as people who didn't really get into it in the first place, it's a great show to start with.

Yeah I'd say Ultimate Spiderman, though not the best, is still solid. I mean, it's the longest running Spiderman cartoon, clocking in at 104 episodes. There was certainly an audience for it if it got that many episodes.
