Hi (I've seen my avatar and screenshots that involved me haha) so here's an update, with ToriTheWolfy now been under house arrest a few months back, his internet activity had decreased tremendously. However, he still roams around sometimes to harass others, in which we shut him down quicker with the number of his parol officer. In short due to those pornographic images he was soon arrested on the spot and has been monitored closely to this day. Hopefully he doesn't fully return since he's a full adult now.

As someone who was on DA for 12 years and now just recently left, when i first joined the community was utterly awesome and great - i even was even a senior member there and part of the senior mentors. I've defended creators against bile, helped others through commenting and critiquing works and running contests and helping others for years, sadly gradually people started to no longer understand what a real critique was and stop giving comments or anything helpful to help artists grow... But there are still some who want to help others... please hang onto them they are ULTRA rare as many have long since left the website.

Honestly, Deviantart has always been a breeding ground for bad personalities. You'll have some good people on the site, but then you get the more celebrated ones, and they turn out to be pretty garbage-y, either drama mamas, or classic I-am-better-than-you-peon characters that have little awareness for anyone that isn't offering them high praise. They're the types that'll make something gorgeous, then call it "trash" just to get massive compliments. At least, that was my experience with dA, which was longer than their cold storage archive has been around.

I have a similar experience with a user called Wolfang, he was one of the fourth great science fiction ships designers in Deviant Art, and one of the reasons why I began to do my own ships designs and art, there is a no speaking rule that if you use the art of other artist you must give them credit, it was all good and dandy for a year or so until Wolfang copy one of my designs without give me actual credit, I asked for my credit for the designs, show the things that I did, but he refused to give me credit, that created a huge battle that take weeks, Wolfang treat me to the administrators and I have no problems, because the date that I posted the designs were the proof that I did them first, he reacted like a big man child, he deleted all his ship designs, he and his fans blacklist me from their pages, and I never hear from him again. The whole episode left me with a bitter taste that I even that I continue to do art in the page, and all was left in the past, I shake the feeling that the page is filled with ego driven people that care more about the notoriarity than the art that they do.

Sadly, Truth Lely Gaia hasn't changed, she's still tracing art works and still making profit off it, even though she rarely shows anything finished from her commissions. She's more active now on Tumblr and Twitter and will delete any thing that shows any form of helpful criticism. PrincessElizabeth has changed for the better, she is getting better and I will say that. It's just Truth hasn't learned anything and has sadly become a bit of a con artist at this point in time.

It really is depressing in regards to how the obsession from the extreme fans ruins the fun for everyone. It's okay to love certain fandoms or series, but it's not okay to fight over fictional characters. As somebody who loves art and is working on their own pieces - despite my sprained wrist, I'm luckily recovering - it takes hard work and practice. Criticism isn't a bad thing - criticism, as long as it's constructive, which is important - you can grow and flourish your artistic pieces! You'd be surprised just how much hidden potential you have!

As someone who has an account on DeviantArt, I can say that the site can be good or bad, depending on the people you interact with, some people are garbage and some are great people I’ve even made some friends on there. Basically it’s not a perfect site but it’s not a hellscape either.

I love DA and do have one but I remember one time that a group called "HorseShitArtWork" would go into random Deviants with GREAT and AMAZING art work and send them a request to put their art work in the group. I got it twice, the second time was a different group with the same idea. I will admit. My art work wasnt the best at the time (it was pretty bad. I like to think i've improved) stuff like that really hurt on how much hard work you put into it. The same two groups actually targeted two of my friends who are pretty great artist. But because are rational human beings. We blocked the groups and ignored them.

Reminds me of my time on the amino app, digimon amino specifically. There were a lot of great people and artists/writers, then there were the less than satisfactory individuals to put it lightly. There was one particular individual who’s name I can’t remember who posted a fanfiction that I felt could have been better so I gave a bit of constructive criticism and they started saying things like “delete this” and “nobody wants your criticism.” After a bit of a talk the person proceeded to make a post to everyone on the digimon amino demanding not to criticize their work in any way shape or form, what’s worse was that someone actually DEFENDED this person saying something along the lines of “yeah tell the haters!” This story is why I no longer use amino.

DeviantArt is arguably the most popular art website in the Western world and so the amount of garbage people on the site is prolific just because the site is so popular. Doesn't help that there's not really a filter system in place to at least cut the amount of garbage you see on that site. Hell, the closest you can get to any real filtering is disabling comments and blocking people which is really inificiant

Oh Lordy, deviantART. I had a friend who messaged me once really upset because someone had accused her of tracing their art and was threatening to report them. It got bad enough that I had to make comparisons of both pieces to show it wasn’t traced. Never mind that both of them had traced their pictures from the back of the DNAngel manga :/ (nothing wrong with the tracing, I know it’s a good way to get a feel for an art style. But accusing someone of tracing your tracing...) This friend also deleted their account after 4 months because her stories didn’t get popular. I know it’s nowhere near as bad as the stories presented here but it’s the memory of that website that makes me cringe

Hey, you know, good news. I actually did manage to remember my login information. I managed to deactivate the account. I mainly deleted it because when you search my real name on Google it comes up with some of my old *Ahem* "Art" in the images tab. Which would allow people to go to the profile and see all of the horrendous comments I made. Luckily, I don't have to worry about it anymore. Since I just purged that piece of my past. And now any people interviewing me for a job can't search my name and find that any more. So I guess that's nice.

Very rarely do I come across scum (mostly because the fan groups I'm part of are large and broad so its near impossible to recognize someone, unless its a specific art style. Though now I'm curious on this Tori character. I do love me some internet drams every once and a while.
