The Vaporfly Next % Ekiden edition were my first Vaporflys. And I ran my first 10k PB in them after 1 year of training back in September of 2020. That PB still stands today (11/2022). 🥰😍👟🏃‍♂️

Haven't tried the first 2 versions of the Vapor Fly, but I'm currently using the 3rd one, the green color. I worn them in track sessions and races from 1500 to 20 miles and really like the shoes. Next% 1 for me. So snappy, bouncy and light. I put 500 miles on mine and every run was magic. Although I do have a soft spot for the 4% Flyknit as I still have my 5k and 10k PB in those shoes but the durability on the outsole is horrendous.

The original 4% only went to a UK 12 (am really a 13) but still paid about £350 off eBay in late 2018 to try them as nowhere else to be seen by then. Such a different feeling to anything tried before so think it was worth it as a shoe "geek" to at least have tried it. Did manage to get the same 4% FK as you off retail but still in a 12. I ended up liking the NEXT% v1 the best not just because they finally did a UK 13 in them (although had to again get a 12 initially) but also fitted my narrow foot better. That said I did one of my best recent races in the v2 so don't think there is much to choose performance wise. They kind of make it hard for shoe reviews of other non Nike £200+ "super" shoes as IMHO, even now what 4 years later, the rest are still catching up although, as you mentioned, there are now more options for different foot shapes and softness/firmness tastes or you just prefer another brand.

I’ve just got a next%2 on discount and I haven’t even used them yet! I’m so behind the times! Look forward to seeing how they do in a 5K round Battersea Park next month.

I can’t imagine the older models being as good as the next%2. I wish they had a traditional heel color, though, more in line with the 4% FK or alphafly

I only have the Next% 2 which is a phenomenal shoe but I was running 1k repeats on the treadmill yesterday in a pair of Zoom Fly Flyknit which is also terrific in my opinion 😎 that Flyknit upper is tremendous. I was running at 4min/km and the shoe was a joy to run in, they've sat in the cupboard for 2 and a half years untouched after 20 treadmill miles initially when I picked them up early 2020 🙊

I've been using the ZFF as my racing shoe for a couple of years, just upgraded to the Next% 2. Only got 115 miles (all on road) in the ZFF so far and got another pair unused. I think I'll use them for some fun stuff like time trials etc.

The only Nike Vaporfly I have used was the one released back in 2007/2008. It was a 5k or 10k maximum distance racing flat, I have it in the Red upper with the Black sole. Sadly my feet are too wide across the toe to fit in any Nike running shoes now.

Thanks for the history lesson. Is there any update on the weight and width of version 3? I really hope they do not try to democratize version 3 like they did with the AF next % v2 by making it wider and heavier (ie more stable).

I have the same exact blue 4%. I really liked them but I ditched them for the next%2 after 50 miles. I need to bring them back out and get them to 100mi

Have the Vaporfly Next%1 and 2. I much prefer the 2 as the upper is more comfortable, though I love the looks of the V1’s more. As for cushioning, I ran in brand new Next#1 and 2 - one on each foot - and the only difference I noted was the upper being much better on the 2. Both are fantastic, though I still prefer the Alphafly’s.

@@markoljustina mid-foot striker. 1:28 pb but have one coming up in January. Alphafly feels weird walking but once you get going they just motor along, and my legs feel so fresh after even the most brutal workouts.

@@markoljustina Alphafly’s don’t “feel” as fast, but Stryd data doesn’t lie. And it’s not just me, look at the ShoeTubers that ragged on the shoe and then looked at data from their runs and then went out setting PBS in them. Andy and Ben are just two that come to the top of my mind. Having said that, the Vaporfly is more versatile in that it handles corners and crowned roads better. Best of luck with that pb.

4%FK the best for me. Has to do with the upper and the stack. The higher stack of the Next% / Next% 2 results in me forefoot pronating. I also don't like the offset lacing system.The 4% FK fits fantastically, the upper is a real boon vs that on the 4% Original, I wish they had kept it around for shorter distance runs as well. As a bit of information, I ran in the VaporFly as well ( the one pre the 4%) although that was a very different shoe.

For some reason I find the alphafly more pop than vaporfly. But I got to say for a supershoe vaporfly has such a good durability, well for v1 When you find v1 for alpha or vaporfly, on sale they can beat other brand or latest shoe in my opinion

I just received my pair that I ordered for almost half price on Black Friday members deals. I find they are smaller in fit to my normal size. If I wear them without socks they are perfect but for racing I’ll definitely have to use an ultralight weight running sock.

I was thinking about this the other day. I have fondest memories of the OG 4% - the first time I tried them on it felt like standing on a stack of pillows! I ran my marathon PB in the monsoon in Boston 2018 in the 4%. I do really like the Next% v 1 and ran my HM PB in them. I find the Next% v 2 feel a bit firmer somehow but maybe it’s because I’m used to it now?

I have had all of them. I can't figure out why the vaporfly next%2 feels stiff to me against the vaporfly next% which I probably ran my last race in (will use them for training runs still).
