I just got the Cloudboom strike today, tried it on…wasn’t impressed. Can’t wait to run it in though. It does seem incredibly light as is. I think in 5 years this will be “on the heavy side”. For the running I do, and enjoy anything under 8.5 is pretty decent. The Hoka Cielo X1 for example are considered heavy for its category, but they are my fav this year.

I foresee the ankle collar having to be progressively trimmed lower as it spreads and frays. Maybe that's the reason it's there in the first place.

Great review Nick, always respect your reviews. Seems like nobody is reviewing the now available Cloudboom Strike and everyone talking about this LS version. Odd? Kind of bummed since I have a pair on the On the way via mail direct from On. I did try them on at the On store @ Venice Beach, California. Felt like Lightstrike Pro. The plate was not that stiff but I'll see when I engage it with a run at 200 lbs. Also, I am normally a US12 with a normal width and it felt a little bit and long - no 11.5 in stock for comparison. A different sock thickness will probably make a big difference. You may want to consider a 1/2 size down.

Still sort of experimental, so maybe later OnCloud could cut in and glue a tiny zip-lock somewhere practical just to get putting in your feet easier. Spray on tech looking promising for now.. would be great to see a 100km+ durability test.

I will wear pretty much anything when it comes to running, as I don’t believe much in aesthetics as long as the shoe is good. But even still, you wouldn’t catch me dead in these 😂

Agreed. There is less manual labor, it’s overall using less material and the construction creates much less waste than traditional textile manufacturing. I get that it’s new, but the price is ridiculous

For $330, I'd rather pay $400 and have something completely bespoke for my foot. Spray-together upper with a standard average-person last is dumb when you see how much other tooling they've had to invest in to develop the process.
