The Asics Superblast 2 and the Novablast 4 are two Asics running shoes that are clearly well designed for daily training miles and have some similarities in areas like weight and drop. But if we had to pick one, which would we go for?

Would love to see this comparison as well. Two very different shoes on papers, but they seem to have a lot of overlap in usage/run types. I love my ES4s but they've given me quite a few pains and injuries that I haven't had in other shoes (calves, achilles), maybe because of the plate?

@@krisfratoyen I've had same issues in previous versions of the speed. For me it's the lack of stability and the overly soft midsole that is the cause of my problems

Would be really curious to see a video from the run testers about shoe brand rotations. If they all could only pick one brand to have a shoe rotation from what would it be? Saucony (Triumph, Speed 4, pro 4?) ASICS (superblast, metaspeed Paris) as examples? Just could be an interesting one.

@@andrewdhome oh did they? I'll have to try and find that. I know they have covered rotations but I thought it would just be interesting if they could only choose one brand to build a rotation with which one they would all go with. I'd have to imagine ASICS would be popular and maybe Saucony too.

I love my Novablast 4's they are my favourite shoe, although I run a lot of trail in all weather, what Asics shoes is the closest to the Novablast 4 but a proper trail shoe? (not the Novablast TR, I know thats not really a trail shoe).

Trabuco Max 2/3... i love my NB4 and the Trabuco max for all but toughest trails where it's just too much shoe...

I’d say Trabuco 11 or 12 not the max it’s just too high stacked. But for technical trails go for Fuji lite.

Novablast 3 was a bit mushy and slow for me with too much cushioning absorbing my energy. The glideride 3 was a great marathon race shoe for me, easy to cruise at 4:15pace and got 1100km out it. The Superblast pricing is crazy, not sure i want i do it all shoe as i like a bit of a variety and rotation. Fingers crossed for a Glideride sequel. I couldn't imagine ever having just the novablast without a rotation.

You should check out the Magic Speed 4. It’s very rockered like the Glideride, and plated although I know the glideride had a plastic plate but still very ‘cruiser’ like.

I have very often tibia injuries so I'd rather to avoid carbon plate shoes. I have Novablast 4 already but I'd like to get some faster shoes for racing (1/8, 1/4 IM). Should I get Superblast 2 or they just won't be much different from NB4?

I just bought SB2 after having completed a full marathon a few days before in NB4. They are both divine, and SB2 will reenergize your feet while running, that's my feeling 3 runs in. I were out of business due to plantar fascitis 18 months and after that most carbonplated shoes makes my heels to burn during races. I did Stockholm marathon this year in NIKE Vaporfly 3 and I really had pain from 26 km. Last weekend I ran a much less flat marathon in NB4 and I had no issues, and I even finished 12 minutes faster (3:28 vs 3:40). But despite these issues I have started drewling upon Magic Speed 2😅. Maybe I just ought to buy another pair of SB2😂.

@@GastroCycling I loved speed 3 and did a 1/2 marathon PB last year in them, but after buying the Speed 4 I realized my pair of speed 3 was a Runshield version. The Speed 4 I've got give me a lot of heel chafing, and that ruin the whole shoe for me. Tips to modify the inner heel padding of my shoes? Aware of when speed 4 with Runshield will be available? Can't come across any Speed 3 anywhere, suppose they're sold out just like SB1😅

I have wider feet and my Novablast 4 in D width fit perfectly fine with no feeling of toebox being too small, nor tight across the mid-foot. I was worried they did not offer 2E, but luckily they accommodate wider feet. I assume SB2 is the same, as I'm getting a pair ASAP. From those shots @ around 3:26 looking down from above, SB2 looks a tad wider in the upper and has more toe-box room. According to Asics themselves IIRC, FF Blast Turbo+ is ~8% softer, ~6% lighter and has more ~10% energy return than FF Blast Turbo. I may the numbers in wrong order.

I’m not a heavier runner, but I do have both of these shoes. I would say the SB2 would be the way to go, and actually a heavier runner may get even more benefit out of it than someone of my weight (155). It’s very soft but the foam is firm so it gives a nice pop on your next stride. I feel like more weight coming down will increase that pop.

For me SL2 plus supernova rise = novablast 4. Still novablast 4 is the best daily trainer. NB4 can do it all compare to SL2 more on speed work.

I just sent my Adidas SL2 back after 55KM. The fit has some serious issues compared to Boston 12 and AP3. Cramped toe box, brutal heel rub and hot spots under foot from the flexible forefoot. I just ordered the Novablast 4 as a new daily trainer.

@@reginaldgonzales no way the adizero sl2 blws the novblast 4 out of the damn water and the foam will last longer than my rebel v4 which at 100 miles has lost that specialness. the SL2 is a Takumi 10 without the rods
