This is high quality stuff. Encore, encore! On a more serious note I have read all of Gareth Patterson’s books about his experiences in Mashatu raising Adamson’s last lion Cubs. In the early 90’s he described the situation as dismal with uncontrolled snaring/ poaching Can you reassure intending visitors that game numbers have recovered? How many lion prides did you come across? Wonderful work as usual…hope to see you on Safari
@TheSafariExpert3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, Born Free. Mashatu's predator populations are very healthy! We saw lions from three different prides on our trip, along with leopards and cheetah. It's a MUST VISIT destination :)
@MashatuGameReserve3 жыл бұрын
Hi Born Free. As Villiers says, Mashatu has become renowned as one of the best destinations in Botswana (if not southern Africa) to view predators! Being unfenced, the wildlife come and go freely, but are concentrated around the 8 rivers on the property. Our Anti-poaching team is sophisticated and works hard to patrol the reserve. Ultimately tourists in vehicles, on horseback and on bicycles are the best deterrent, as they are 'eyes in the bush,' so we really hope to see more tourists visiting our area as travel recovers worldwide. Come and visit, we can assure you, you will not be disappointed. In fact, you will see cats every single day on safari!

I like nikon camera's, and I want to bye Nikon D810,is this camera compatible for wildlife photography? please give me suggestions on it....thank you.

Beautiful video with excellent commentary! In my humble view, you could have chosen traditional African music that would have complemented the landscape. I have been to Botswana twice but have not visited Mashatu. Is it possible to do a self drive safari in Mashatu and if so, would GPS signals work there? Thank you.
@TheSafariExpert Жыл бұрын
No, self-driving is not allowed in Mashatu at all.

Cathan told me about you. We just came back from a trip to Mashatu and Kruger two days ago. Amazing trip again. Thanks for sharing all your content!

Cannot choose which season to visit 🤔?? Looking forward to the next episodes.
@MashatuGameReserve3 жыл бұрын
Chat to The Safari Expert. Every season is totally unique and it depends if you want birds, if you want hide sessions, if you want bold orange hues or bright yellow flowers!
@TheSafariExpert3 жыл бұрын
Ruud, if you’re unsure, travel when it suits you best… I meant it when I said in the video - there’s no bad season for game viewing in Mashatu. What you can keep in mind, is that June, July and August can be very cold in the mornings and October to February the maximums are very high. If you want to visit the hide, go July, August or September and if you want to give yourself the best chance for flowers, go in February ☺️🌼 If you have more questions, please email me on info@thesafariexpert.co.za
