I have thick hair that requires lots of upkeep, and last I went to the salon and asked them to thin it they didn't, and only cut it short. I got better results buying a feather razor on my own and following your video and will not be going back to salons. Lol thanks for this.

I’m an old hairdresser since the 1970s . I always like using a straight razor for thinning hair. Could you clarify to the viewers the direction you hold your razor ( guard towards or away from you). Also the same with the shears ( which blade is on top or bottom) I think that would be helpful for learners to see . Thank you. Pam B

Yes!! This is very helpful I DIY color, cut, both my hands are crippled from a factory accident many yrs ago so I'm at a huge disadvantage right out if the starting gate basically know 1 cut I've been wearing for decades - I live in brutally hot south Florida- so when it starts getting too hot I cut the back mercilessly my hair is fine texture (I think?) but very thick it comes out ok I try to do a hyper extend from the back pulling it to the sides (leaving the front alone that's already kind of feathered/ layered) it ends up tapered in the back from both sides with a section right down the m8dfle of the back of my head I can ponytail that if I want - but I'm trying to learn more from you how to thin the back- I'm looking for what to get/ use? To thin this thickness in the back - entertaining the thought of a razor comb? So it's not such blunt cuts?= But now seeing this might he a good idea to try thinning shears I'll have to look for a specific type of handle because of how my hands are if I use scissors for too long with a round hole in handle? It digs into my thumb & eventually causes damage to my already messed up hands oh! & I can only put a pair of scissors in my right hand for cutting both sides I can't use in left hand its too curled from injuries- well I want to take off length first then thin it is what I'm trying to do for hot weather - thank you! I'll try thinning shears & see how that goes?

I used to be able to curl my hair and it would stay for a reasonable amount of time and now it falls out in less than an hour and I used mousse and hair spray. Someone told me that it maybe doing this because my hair is to thick. Is this a possibility? Are there other possible reasons?😊

My hairs are so sharp, my hair cannot be styled as they go back to their normal position because of the weight of hair. I sometimes feel I'm unlucky because my hair feels like a porcupine's hair😭
