Louise, Thank you so much for creating recipes for foods that you and Jeff wouldn't normally eat! I made this yesterday (along with the homemade Celery Soup) and it was a huge hit at our house. My 90 year old mother lives with us and is somewhat of a picky eater. She ate two bowls of this soup/stew! It was wonderful! This was my first time for making dumplings and everyone loved them. You are my go to person for special dinners!

Also what we call dumplings, are made with beef or vegetarian suet, your dumplings look delicious! I’m definitely going to have a go at it! I’ve always loved your style, nothing is a disaster, you don’t edit mistakes out, and you’re so down to earth that this, also, Scottish lass agrees wholeheartedly with the comments of my countrywoman @Scottish Lass, that you would be good teaching children, your easygoing way, your laid back attitude and the facts that, if something goes wrong, it’s not the end of the world and can be remedied. Louise, I know this is older, but sometimes I look in your past receipt for ideas or a receipt I already made and forget what I need to enjoyed again. Plus on the very good side with you Louise, always so constantly have great advice to change or to improve things in the Ninja Foodi. I'm the cook, my brother doesn't cook often, he would rather defrost or reheat what I already have in our freezer. Sometimes he asks me to find something you suggested a while ago, which is the case with this exact meal. When doing the dumplings I had some spicy flakes, which we both love. Our parents died a few years back and we inherited our amazing family house, 11 rooms with plaster mouldings, 12 feet ceilings with 7 original Murano chandeliers, solid mahogany flooring with borders in of rosewood, with an inside swimming pool and sauna. My brother's only cooking ability is buying already-cooked stuff from grocery stores to reheat. For myself, I might buy an already-cooked chicken for faster meal prep. Louise, I always appreciated your ideas and your very valuable advice, Thank you so much from upper NY state.

Good Morning: I have prepared this before 2 - 3 times in the Ninja Foodi. I am considering to prepare this on the stove today (Thursday) for lunch & dinner because I have identical 28 years twin sons (young men) still living with me & I need to make this last at least three days. What do I need to do differently? 1. Are all ingredients the same? 2. Do I still put the drop dumplings on top & if so Do I cover the pot? 3. How long will this need to cook for if the dumplings are on top? 4. Would the cream of celery still go on top as well?
@TheSaltedPepper4 жыл бұрын
I have not prepared this recipe on the stove, but it should be pretty simple to do. All the ingredients would be the same. You can put the cream of celery in at anytime since you aren't going under pressure. I'm not exactly sure how long it will take for the dumplings to cook, but you will know when they are done because they will float and puff up. I don't think it matters too much if you cover them or not. Just keep the liquid at a nice low boil and it should be fine. You might need more liquid since you will have more evaporation than if you PC. Just have extra chicken stock on hand and add more if it gets too thick.

I just finished making this dish. This is my first time trying my hand at this. It took me so long to prepare this. OH MY GOODNESS delicious. I did a couple or a few things different. I already had raw chicken quarters. I cut meat off the bone, very tedious. I cooked the chicken in the foodi. Then cut all the other things. Third I made the dumpling mixture before I cooked the meat & vegetables. When it came to using half & half in the dumplings I did not have that, so I used a little less that half a cup of heavy whipping cream ( it was about half of a half cup - my measurements are not that great). I definitely cut up the chicken to small. It"s so was so small that it looked invisible. Also I did not have cream of celery soup, therefore I used cream of chicken soup. Everytime I made dumplings in the past the results are heavy, dense & sometimes gummy. I am never going back to that. Light & fluffy all the way. Thank You I am loving this.

I am just wondering how much flavor would be lost by using canned cream of celery soup. If the answer is a ton, I might make a batch in advance and freeze it.

Wendy Weir I’m not sure because I didn’t test it with canned and I don’t even know what canned tastes like. I can tell you that I could eat the homemade version as a soup any day. It is delicious! I would definitely used a nicely seasoned chicken and good bone broth. The flavors are outstanding!

Can i omit the evaporated milk? or substitute?
@TheSaltedPepper5 жыл бұрын
I would think you could decrease the water and use milk or half and half for the homemade cream of celery soup

How do you make your bone broth ?.please
@TheSaltedPepper4 жыл бұрын
The most important thing is the ratio of bones to water. Here is my recipe for turkey bone broth, but you can follow the same for chicken as well: thesaltedpepper.com/instant-pot-bone-broth/

Looks good can you do it in the grill
@TheSaltedPepper4 жыл бұрын
Not really, you need a sauté feature at the least. You could do it on the stove though.

Lou I hope that you're keeping well with this Coronavirus going on. I can't wait to get out as we're on lockdown here in the UK. Only Nurses Drs etc. Etc. are allowed out free at will.

I'm on a low carb diet. And I miss chicken and dumplings, could almond or coconut flour be used in place of the flour
@TheSaltedPepper5 жыл бұрын
Christopher Wright you could try. I’m not a fan of how they taste though. I’ve tried to make bread and stuff and the after taste isn’t pleasing to me. Maybe one of those carb free flour blends that are a 1:1 substitute would work. Let me know if you try it!

Hi @The Salted Pepper.....wondering if you or anyone here has made the cream of celery recipe in a dairy-free version? Maybe coconut milk or almond milk vs Evap Milk? Thanks!

Lou ,can it be reheated in the ninja foodi?
@TheSaltedPepper5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can either reheat using sear/ saute or put it in a pan covered and steam it. I usually steam left overs like this so I don't have to watch that they don't burn to the bottom. I just set the steam time for 15-20 minutes and walk away. You do need at least 2 cups of water in the inner pot and the pan of leftovers on the rack, covered.

What can I use instead of celery?
@TheSaltedPepper3 жыл бұрын
Just omit it.

Last thing this week: Ninja is a huge company, and they support a great website supporting the Foodi. Fortunately, I haven’t needed to use it yet. But if I wanted a new pressure lid or a new liner pot, it’s there and it’s not particularly expensive. If they are reading this, I would especially appreciate a Pyrex style glass liner as an aftermarket accessory, but I haven’t ruined my aluminum liner, and maybe this isn’t even possible at reasonable cost. My biggest wish is that they would license Kitchenaid to produce an upscale Foodi version. They are particularly good at this. What would you ask Ninja Claus for this Christmas?
@TheSaltedPepper5 жыл бұрын
I would think a glass liner would be way to heavy to lift in and out of the pot. It would have to be rated pressure too. Have you seen that Ninja is coming up with a new Foodi line?
@7heRedBaron5 жыл бұрын
No, I didn’t see anything about a new line. They just finally built enough of these that stores can have them in stock again. Thanks for the responses!
