This recipe is stunning and a huge hit with my kids. It also fills the house with an amazing smell as it works its magic in the slow cooker! I put the removed bacon in the air fryer and max crisp it then chop it up small and return it to the chowder for 15 minutes at the end.

What a great idea for the bacon! I never thought of that, thanks for the tip!

If I'm pressed for time ( or too lazy to peel potatoes for a large crowd ) I use thawed frozen hash browns , perfect cut for potatoes . Also ALWAYS add celery with my Vidalia onions ! Try it , it makes a difference !

Corn chowder is one of my favorite soups. I just bought a rotisserie chicken at Costco, and I have all the other ingredients. This HAS to be on my table this week!
@TheSaltedPepperАй бұрын
I hope you love it! Since your chicken is already cooked, I would add it towards the end of slow cooking.

Yummm.. i like to add a bit of carrot and red bell pepper plus a tiny pinch of cayenne or chili flakes also .. sooo good. Thank you for sharing with us. Hmmm maybe a hot roll to dip. Making me hungry!😂

I had to like and subscribe because this recipe is so simple and basic. I would have all those ingredients and the way you do this is much like I like to cook. Now I need to check all your other recipes. Thanks so much. This will be great on a “snow day” in Maine after I come in from snow blowing the driveway. And I would have to toast a baguette to go along….

Great job explaining why you do things while adding ingredients! Got mine on right now. I used 1/2 a red pepper chopped instead of celery. I added 1 tsp thyme. Smellavision is outstanding.

I rally appreciate that this recipe is also minimal prep work (where I spend most of my active time when cooking). I see why you chose breast over thigh, but I think I might try with thigh as I prefer the flavor . Also, I think I'll try chopping and frying up the bacon as a crispy topping - and maybe even experiment with trying this with sous vide prep after seeing how I like the slow cooker version (where I'd cook all but the roux in the bag, then finish up with a stove top roux).
@TheSaltedPepperАй бұрын
All great ideas! I never thought to fry up the cooked bacon to use as a topping, I always make it fresh. I will try that next time. Sous vide is an interesting approach, just make sure your sous vide is set high enough to cook the potatoes, which would be around 190F.

So, your slow cooker is different, what temp and how long would I cook this? What if my children is thawed? How much slurry do you put in? Chicken can be cooked to 165 degrees, why so much higher?
@dhauxhurstАй бұрын
Thank you! So in the original ninja foodi ill ckk on high for 5 to 6 hours?
@TheSaltedPepperАй бұрын
Yes, it took 5 hours on high in the original Ninja Foodi that pressure cooks and air crisps using the slow cook function.
@yvonnelanese-coppola4999Ай бұрын
@@TheSaltedPepperwhat do you set as a regular slow cooker?
@merrikain8737Ай бұрын
Could you do this in a ninja foodi pressure cooker
@TheSaltedPepperАй бұрын
You can use the slow cook function on the Ninja Foodi pressure cooker without any changes and I'm in the process of testing a pressure cooker version that will come in a month or so. I'm still working on the modifications.

So, your slow cooker is different, what temp and how long would I cook this? What if my children is thawed? How much slurry do you put in I’d love to subscribe, but I need the times not a guesstimate, you said that frozen or fresh. Well that’s a different time line. This looks good, but I don’t want to ruin a meal. To people who will bash me, don’t! She used a specific slow cooker. Food is too expensive to Be very vague on directions
