My scenario is exactly same, I had a good experience with apple magic keyboard and I wanted to connect with multiple devices so purchased mx keys and it worked so well then I broke it. After lot of youtube videos and pouring good reviews, I tried keychron k8 pro and nuphy air 75. They are good but I get typos, and a lot of connectivity issues, k8 pro's height is an issue to me, It cannot be used without a palm rest. I dint like either of these keyboards. I was trying to buy mx mechanical keyboard for the last few months. But, every review in internet makes me double think that decision. Your video gave me the confidence to purchase it and my typing experience is back to normal. I am subscribing to your channel as a token of appreciation :) Keep doing this!

Hey! Did you end up buying it? If so, how has it been? I'm kind of on the same boat, I use an apple magic keyboard for work and its great, small, light and I'm faster and make less mistakes on it. For my gaming PC I have a mechanical keyboard with cherry MX browns but I wanted to get a single keyboard for both PCs and was torn on what to get because the mechanical gives me fatigue after a while, and the height isn't desirable, and the apple magic keyboard is great but for gaming not so much and it can't even be paired to more than one device.

Had the exact same experience with Keychron years ago... I had a single keyboard from them and I still have nightmares. I had to retype my first word all the time. Totally unusable pain in the ass keyboard that was. Not to mention that one was thick like a brick, but if they still haven't fixed basic features like this I won't touch them with a pole. That's the sad thing about niche mechanical keyboard brands... They're so much behind brands like Logitech on the connectivity front. The connection is instant and rock solid, and device switching between 3 devices on Logitech MX products work exceptionally well.

Logitech keyboards have their own flaws though. Strange layout decisions and no freakin wired connection for the mx keys mini. Why-oh-why?? Currently using the mini with Linux, which is also a pain, and the connectivity issues (wait for a few seconds to Bluetooth connect) are there. So in Windows they probably solve it from the software side. Gonna try the Nuphy Air75 v2 now.

Nice review, have a sub. I actually quite like this keyboard - but as a programmer my requirements are for precision and a much heavier reliance on things like tabs and symbols rather than speed so it suits me fine. I'm also a gamer so I have an inherent distrust of anything wireless, so running it over bluetooth never even ocurred to me. Finally, as a Brit our options are much more limited with keyboards as we have our own special layout and I cant unprogram 30 years of expecting the return key to be double height and using a US layout drove me absolutely mental. I really really like the Apple keyboard a lot, but it's always a bit off if you aren''t using a Mac - and i'm primarily Windows or Linux. Have tried the even smaller keyboards, but end up wanting to smash them against the wall as function keys and arrow keys are a cut too far and completely essential for writing code unless you are some kind of nutcase that does everything in Vim Edit: One big downside for me that it's really difficult to source Low Profile keycaps, especially in a UK layout. The ones included aren't bad but feel a bit silky and would prefer some nicer ones with a bit more texture to them and in a couple of extra colours so I could pick out important keys for like WASD and Blender in a different tone as am not a touch typer and visual cues help my fingers land on the right place.

I did it the other way around.. Came from apple wireless keyboard (pre-magic) and lenovo trackpoint keyboard, the goal was to replace both and kept only one on my desk. In hindsight I should've probably try the mx keys first but caught a mech fever. mx mech: seamless connection with flow, faster wake up, BUT not hot swappable. No cable mode but I don't really care about this since I already on unifying and bolt ecosystem, overall it is too expensive if I had to bought it myself. K3: hot swappable, affordable, great even for the price. It needs some time to wake up but I can get used to it since once it wake up it wake up while mx mech sleeps a lot. My only gripe is that it's only BT or cable mode, no 2.4 rf..

One day I stepped into a store and tried a MacBook - 100+ first try. Have been using it since as the primary keyboard. Great to know there are others who prefer these keyboards as well! I think it is not just the travel/actuation distance that might be giving him the issue since he loved other low profile ones like Nuphy and Lowfree, I think the suspect is the angled keycaps. The keychron k3 has a weird keycap profile that is tapered away from you which is uncommon for keyboards and I found myself having to angle my wirst over it quite a lot insead of having it hover above the keyboard. Take a look at images or videos to notice the reverse tapering of these keys!

Before I got most of those, I got the MX keys mechanical mini. I don't know why I didn't get rid of it sooner. Worst keyboard ever. I mean it's a fine keyboard. its my issue. I can't type on it. I make 10x more typos than any other keyboard I have ever used. I'm also not a mechanical keyboard person. So I assume from that experience that all mechanical keyboards sucks and are just too easy to typo or trigger the keys. The slightest pressure will trigger it. I got the brown keys on it btw. And why would this company omit such a vital feature? Bluetooth/2.4Ghz - only (like the MX keys mini) make these keyboards useless for IT hobbyists / pro's. Boot menus / BIOS cannot be accessed. Blue switches help A LOT but I can't stand the noise they are doing, they are distracting me from what I am trying to write... The ketron keyboards I'm going to say key. So many freaking times. They have the slightly tilted keys. They all tilt slightly towards the middle of the keyboard so that they sit more comfortably on your fingers, but that doesn't mean that you're going to be as used to them as a normal keyboard. Normal keyboards and most keyboards are completely flat. It's really not surprising that you would be equally as fast across many different flat keyboards versus a keyboard with slight rounding

I use it for design and the K3v2 looks and feels great, the plastic keys feels kind of fabric/rubbery. I tried the MX mechanical but the fact I can use the K3v2 for both mac and windows helped me choose

Another issue with these enthusiast keyboards is battery life, MX Keys will give you 10 months on a single charge (backlight off), other Logitech models can even go for 3 years.

What is with all of these wireless keyboards with no function keys and no num pad? Why? If it is connected to a desktop computer, why would you care if it is wireless or if it is smaller? You are giving up capabilities for no reason.

I came from a numpad mxkeys. Never used numpad for 3 years. These have function keys. Also we like having more space for my mouse on the right But yeah, anyone that works with numbers. Numpad is a must.

How fast you are with 5 finger method - 50 words ? It is a linear world, isnt it ? BTW it is useful, because very often one drinks coffee with one hand while coding with the other.

There is a famous Korean PC parts site where you can find keyboards with given criteria. If I set the criteria to backlit and ten-key-less and order them by lowest price, almost ALL of them are Bluetooth. This is so stupid. Other than Logitech (and maybe Apple and Microsoft?), those companies DO NOT have good Bluetooth technology like long battery life and no sleep/awake delay. Why make it Bluetooth when you can't make them useable? Jusy make it wired and remove Bluetooth/battery. That will make it cheaper and smaller. I have tried a K3 myself and felt the same thing. Its Bluetooth is impractical for desktop use (maybe only good for very occasional laptop use), and I switched to wired mode. Since it has a battery, it kept showing that green "fully charged" LED even when the PC was off in wired mode (BT turned off). Stupid.

Hi, friend. I apologize for my English, I typed it in a translator. I also bought a K3 V2 from KeyChron, I am also pleased with the assembly and backlight, but also the typing on the keyboard is slower than on the apple magic keyboard. The most irritating thing is its short battery life (about 2-3 days with backlight) and problems with communication, it often loses, it’s true. But I stayed on K3, tried the Logi MX mini, which is in the video, an excellent keyboard, but it seemed too big and sweeping, and the backlight also worked strangely, which is not adjustable and turns on only in the dark. As a result, I'm looking towards NePhy to replace the apple magic keyboard. Oh, yes, the keys in Keychron also begin to creak over time, which is also annoying. P.S. Im a not keyboard guy too! :) Peace.

I agree. I bought a Keychron K5 Pro and I sort of hate it. I just need a flat keyboard. If Apple made a keyboard with gaps between each four F-keys so they're easier to blindly find, there's be no competition at all.

it was my second mechanical keyboard definitely not a keyboard guy and i love the k3 v2 i got better typing speed than my old cheapest mechanical i could find, but my accuracy got worse which i guess i will get better with time, for gaming though it's perfect, also went with brown switches but the custom even more low profile ones and i like it

you might want to get lighter linear switches. the thing is with mechanical keyboards is customizability. my main is a 61split spacebar with multiple switch types. letter keys are light tactiles, numbers & arrows clicky and layer modifiers are very light linears(for my pinky). I use a 3rd layer for macros, remapped my CAPS as a 3rd layer switch. the difference of sound and feel of different switches makes it easier for me to navigate my keyboard and thus faster productivity with less mistakes. My fastest typer is a logitech K580 =) except i cant work with its tiny arrow keys. I am a logitech fanboy with(g613, g605, g502, g733 etc), and MX mechanical would be worth a try if only it is remappable/full macro-able.

Very good review. I sold my Keychron k6 because of the anoying RGB. Yes you can find a triple key combination online to lock it but everytime the keyboard is turned off you start all over. that alone is a no go (If not giving away one of the most importand keys for a rarely used function is). I also was massively annoyed by the bluetooth standby delay. i frequently was missing the first 3 Letters of a word... I now have an epomaker th66 which does this better. Although It takes even longer to wake up it only goes to standby after something like 15 or 30min. that doesnt annoy me because it rarely happens and when i am away longer i know it and press a key to wake it up.
