Logitech gets button layout very correct. Delete button in the upper right corner, volume buttons you can easily find my touch (stick 3 fingers into the corner of the keyboard and you're there), and swapped page up/down and home/end positions from the keychron k3 which did all those previous things wrong. Only ding for me is that I like alt+ctrl right next to each other on the right side so I can simply thumb/pinky a ctrl+alt+del which I need very frequently to login due to very short lock screen policy for work.
@FlameRat_YehLon2 жыл бұрын
I think K3 is objectively better for having optical switches. In long run it's probably much easier to repair dead keys (without worring about destroying the socket) and it also has lighter actuation force and distance. Though one issue is that the switches seems rather sketchy in their mechanical design, but at least it's super cheap to get replacements, and probably won't double click like ever so that's probably not as much of an issue.

I'm new to mech keyboards and finally bought the Logitech MX mechanical full size for my Mac. I had been looking at the keychron's for a while but there is a few things that are deal breakers that Logitech got right. I think these are going to sell hand over fist to a whole new market. Keep in mind the target audience is used to paying $150 for apple magic keyboards OR in most cases the employer is the one footing the bill. Not defending the price because I think Logi could do a few more things like throwing in dedicated keycaps for Mac or PC. Also, maybe have sets of productivity icon keys for different types of users (video/photo editing, excel). I'm glad you did mods because I had no idea what I could do with this thing.

@JimIBobIJones2 жыл бұрын
The Logitech just falls massively short compared to the k3s when you look at the product as whole considering the modability/upgradability and the range of accessories - and all for a lot less. Available keycaps are much better for the K3, and is pretty much perfect for the K3 pro. Even though the K3s also have proprietary keycaps (at least on switches with stabs) they recently released PBT doubleshot keycaps that fit their stab positioning. The new K3 Pro (for only $10 more) has standardised stab positioning so you can swap them out for virtually any MX style keycaps and they also comes with PBT doubleshots as standard. Logitech's proprietary BS means that (for some keys at least) you are stuck with their cheap painted ABS keycaps. Their accessories range is also much better for Keychron - they come with a perfectly matched wooden wrist rest and a leather carrying case that fits both the keyboard and the wrist rest snugly. No wrist rest or carrying case for the MX - which is a big issue for a low profile, you can't really throw on a generic wrist rest and using a standard size carrying case reduces portability (which is IMHO the biggest draw for them given the compromise you are making on key travel). Hotswappability is also huge - and if you go optical, keychron has a pretty expansive range of low profile optical switches that you can choose from - far braoder tahn whats available for low profile mechanicals of the 3 main brands (Kalih, Gateron and Cherry). Contrary to assertions as an "office person" I do care a lot about modability of my keyboard. A lot of us who have to spend most of their 9-5 (or longer) typing, do care a lot about their keyboard. Finally, I haven't used the k3 v1 so can't speak about build quality but my v2 came from one of their first batches and has been used for well over a year and half. Its been a solid, reliable board and I have no complaints. If I were to nit pick, the "press fit" aluminium cover layer isn't as elegant a solution as Logitech's plate but I will happily take the compromise for the smaller footprint.
@JimIBobIJones Жыл бұрын
@@JimmyTulip1 keychron are pretty random and slow with what they release iso versions of. I used to prefer iso having grown up with it but they took ages to release a k3 iso version so went for ansi instead. I've ended up switching wholesale to ansi across all of my custom boards because of the much more limited range of iso keycaps. But I think its much easier to switch from uk iso to ansi compared to other languages. The differences are pretty minor if you use win+space to switch between layouts.

Though in my personal opinion I would choose the Keychron over the Logitech, it's priced much more reasonable (about half price) with the only real downside being that it has no 2.4 GHz dongle (only Bluetooth)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m a student and trying to decide between the two but leaning more toward the K3 V2. If you don’t mind me asking, what mouse do you use? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

@@DrDuckDockin For gaming I mainly use a Logitech G pro wireless but I did win a Steelseries Prime at a gaming convention this weekend so I'm currently experimenting with that. As for recommendations that's a hard one, many factors. Mouse shape, weight, size, price, etc. I mean you can never go wrong with the main brands and often praised ones like the Razer Viper Ultimate, Logitech G pro wireless, etc. One more tip though If you game more than you type go for a good gaming mouse cause when it comes to WASD'ing around a cheap keyboard is honestly fine If you code/type more than you game go for a better keyboard since a good keyboard can most certainly increase your typing speed.

Do you recommend Nuphy Air 60 or the Keychron K7, or should I just go all the way with the Logitech MX Mech Mini? (I know the last one is a 75% but still I've been looking for a compact mech keyboard to use with my Galaxy Tab haha)

I had Nuphy air75 and 60. kept the 60. also have the logitech but prefer the Nuphy for trying feel and the logitech is better layout for more control. I use both but I prefer Nuphy for typing.

How did you feel about the super-fast backlight timeout? I've reached out to Logitech and they agree the fast timeout is unacceptable. It's not clear if/when there will be a feature added to Options+ to adjust the backlight. I returned the MX Mechanical and MX Keys both for the same reason. It's a major design flaw that hinders usability and ruins the experience if you work in a dim or dark room.

Are you just spamming this comment everywhere? I just don’t believe Logitech agreed with you that there is an inherent flaw in the design. Proof or it didn’t happen!

I'm not a keyboard enthusiast and I'm glad that I chose MX mechanical mini for MAC in favour of Keychron keyboards. It has double usb-c charging cable.It connects via Bluetooth without any usb-dongle(for MAC version). I guess it's been like 4 month I've been using a keyboard with backlit LED on and have never charged it once.

I own the Logitech MX keyboard in this video and it's great to type on. However, my one complaint (which is a big one) is Logitech made the backlight turn off seconds after you take your hand away from the keyboard. I often work in a dim room so this is a problem. And after an extensive search, there seems to be no way to disable this behavior, This keyboard ended up being relegated to one of my seldom-used keyboards for this flaw alone. While I appreciate a keyboard battery lasting a long time, the decision to turn the backlight off so aggressively seemed like a bad decision. It takes only an hour of being plugged in and it's good to go for months. I'd of rather had the light on for 5 or more minutes than what they chose.

I have the same issue with this keyboard. If you keep it plugged in than the light stays on longer.

This is an extremely ridiculous thing that no video talks about, it's actually very frustating. I just bought it and I am considering to return it.

Shrug. It's for an office. There's something to be said for being able to tell your boss you need a new keyboard and replacing it means going to a big box store instead of international shipping. Is it more expensive. Yes. Does it matter. Nope. That keyboard is better than anything else so readily available. It's a convenience fee. And more than worth it to an office.

I want to see that boss who will pay more than 200$ for there employees keyboard. Usualy they will get the cheapest available random keyboard from the Dollar Store. If you want something else, usually you need to pay it yourself.
@halycon4042 жыл бұрын
@@silentwater79 Depends where you work. Not even company really. Just which department. A 200 dollar keyboard is a rounding error come end of the fiscal year when the server staff is trying to burn its budget. Spend all year getting crap to save the budget in case of emergency, then on the years emergencies don't happen burn it in a hurry so noone lowers it from that one year of discrepancy.

I don't understand how we call keyboards that fit into the same form factor we've always been using as "boosting productivity." I can understand that a solid keyboard feel makes us more motivated and energetic while working, but otherwise there is nothing more productive about it. At least it's not as bad as "gaming chairs" with zero or negative aspects of many of them, all of these "artisinal" keyboards serve different aesthetics and feelings.
