Thanks for keeping me laughing. THIS IS TO CLOSE TO HOME! Today my Dad is in the hospital with complications with Chemo. I've already lost my Mom at a younger age. My grandparents just passed away 2 years ago. I thought I would have 70+ years with my parents, but I'm barely 40. Life is so unkind sometimes. I hope you get many more years with your Dad Sarah. My sister Sarah & I aren't as lucky. I wish this pain on no one.

if your Dad has ulcers on both sides of his feet, has peripheral venous insufficiency been diagnosed? I've been contending with this vascular issue for the past 6 years, starting in my mid-50's. My first "stasis ulcer" (the nature of the condition is that blood flows to the feet via arteries just fine, but isn't inclined to make the return trip back to the heart, resulting in "pooling" of blood in the feet,) cropped up near my ankle bone in 2016, and i was unpleasantly surprised to learn there's little in the way of effective therapies. Specifically, wearing compression socks constantly, and elevating the feet above the level of the heart a few times a day, are the only prescribed activities to address this, and rarely cause it to diminish - you gotta come to accept that you're headed downhill. Aerobic activity helps, as with anything vascular, (i ride mountain bike, more than an hour at a stretch, a couple times a week,) and there are procedures to block veins that aren't effectively contributing to that uphill journey, to get more pressure in the larger, deep veins that aren't accessible to surgery, as their near the leg bones, and few of us want to be flayed like poultry. I just viewed this now, tho did catch yr Kimmel stint, including yr Dad's contribution, and i gotta say - that may have been the most outrageous 20 minutes of late night comedy i've ever seen on ABC. Hard to believe it's a Disney property, given they let you go off like that! Way to go, Sarah! We can always count on you to push the envelope, and you come thru like a champ!

The "contaminated glass" from the bee can be trickier to relate to than people realize. I've had similar arguments. I grew up in the country, where you get covered in shit, mud and dirt and its no big deal - you just wash afterward. I think about "clean" and "dirty" differently than some people. The idea of a glass somehow absorbing "dirtiness" from a bee just doesn't compute in my brain. That said, relationships + COVID have forced me to be more aware of cleanliness.

Random theory from a stranger - Perhaps the bee reminded you of your grief with losing your dad? Or maybe you're just starting to grieve in some ways, subconsciously and maybe feeling like you're "losing" your favorite juice glass is just that random trigger that snuck up on you? And loss can be infuriating at times - we want to hold someone responsible for taking something so precious away from us. Not to get you off the hook for your reaction- I appreciate how important taking personal responsibility is to you and love it/am inspired by it- but just this more to give you some credit for going through something that is hard, heartbreaking and so so human 💖 And it's cool to make some intentional room for that to fall out 🖖 My experience is that bottled grief is like a toll troll, popping out for payment from under the bridge at really inconvenient times. But it doesn't have to be a scary, unyielding troll. When you get friendly with it, it can also be like rainbow troll doll troll that you keep on the dashboard, always in view. Your "ride or die" of sorts 🤷🤣 Love to you, Sarah 💖 Love what you're doing here in this space 🙏 and love to Schleppy and all who hold him dear!

Sarah!!!! It was so hard to listen to you put yourself down. It had me in tears, no joke! Your feelings are valid. You were triggered. It has nothing to do with Rory, of course, but it doesn't make it any less valid! You have some hurt, wounded part in you that felt protective in that moment. And it's okay. And it's valid. And you need to comfort it! There's no shame in that. It was interesting that you said "turned into a three year old." It's a younger, inner part of you, I bet, that felt some past hurt. Go take some space and go love that part! You need to be WAY more gentle with yourself, lady!

Hey I said they all have great qualities; smart funny and beautiful. She was not convinced that I knew my own mind. Later when my prefrontal cortex was fully developed at 35 I realized what she said was true. She also said I burned the "candle at both ends"...I am still unsure what that means... Your urethral meatus (pee hole opening) is about a half inch above your vagina, it can be hard to physically tell the difference/location until someone like a doctor shows you. "mom" could be worried about the sexualizing dehumanizing male gaze, which in a group dynamic can be absolutely dangerous. Mom may be more wise about the world and less concerned with "height". I don't think she's promoting 60s high heals, stockings and a perm, just less exposure.

@@elizabethdonnelly6946 I just read a story in the UK Guardian: every woman member of the Olympic squad, across all sports, had custom bras designed to take into account of the needs of each sport and person's shape. They've been winning a lot of medals, helped by no worries about That, bras were adopted because of utility first. My chicken raising, rhubarb & asparagus growing first generation (EastEuropean) grandmother told me that. She had a coal stove and a couch in her kitchen.
