Re: Les I completely understand your impulse to find this person. People who experiences trauma in their childhood often find themselves in situations that recreate that trauma. In an attempt to "fix it" this time. Like watching 911 videos, hoping that you could get someone out of the building before it collapsed.

I listen to your podcast driving to work and I was seriously tearing up with your story about Les. It broke my heart. I’m sorry that happened to you. But you have such a wise perspective on life. The fact that you can forgive him and hold no hate in your heart for him is inspiring. I tend to hold grudges, I wish I could be more like you. ❤

OML, the Les thing... horrific and i can relate to life death from even younger ages. Babygirl, don't let it take your joy ever again. It is a badge of honor, not a burden of fear. Look at you, bright, brilliant, beautiful, loving,, successful... the fear you learned kept you safe thru all the following years i bet, it taught you lessons that cannot be learned thru books, made you who you are today. Feel empowered, you conquered it, it did'nt conquer you. You and that Sag charm, humor and happiness. Those eyes hold a sorrow yet... no need, you are loved, you are wonderful and we all are truly blessed to live in a time where we got to enjoy with you in it too bringing laughter, exposing ugly truths via humor too, egukashunel. Forgot who said it, "If you are going to tell the truth, make them laugh, or they. Will kill you." You tight af, see yourself, see your strength, you are glorious... even after such a traumatic experience. It has nothing on you!

Hi Sarah, so sorry this happened to you. I bet that some of the good folk fans of yours who are still working at that educational institution can probably find the identifying data quickly. They should be able to ID your sister's room number (she may have correspondence). So they will have records for this guy. It may be easier to track him down via grade reports & schedule. There are probably other people who had memorable experiences with him. He may have eventually been dismissed or dropped out. Also, I search of CA sex offender data base (or national) may be helpful. You know his approximate age. Your sister may remember his approximate height/weight. I bet he is well aware of who you grew to be! All the best. You are brave to share what so many of us are still unable to talk about. Peace.

I have a similar-ish trauma that continues to pop up for me, and it's killing me that I have no idea who it was. I was molested by the older (college age) son of my dad's fishing buddy when I was...8? 9?? I don't remember his name...my dad couldn't either (he's long gone now)...there was another boy there, son of a different friend, closer to my age, who told the adults something was wrong and I was removed before it could get even worse. I'd love to know who abused me -- and I'd really like to thank the boy who led to my rescue.

Nobody seems to have asked this yet. I was wondering how this Les trauma resurfaced? Did anything in particular trigger it? What was happening the last time it surfaced? Perhaps what’s needed is closure? (A Reiki master healer can actually help with this, btw.)

This one really got me. I loved it and also jumped when hearing about your trauma as a kid. I hope you find Les or he hears this somehow and feels bad about it. I’m just so proud of how you moved on or that it’s so long ago that you’re able to forgive him and take that life lesson to heart. Also, I was shocked too about the cynical 23-year-old like WOW! He must’ve had to grow up really fast to be so down-trodden about social media. Thank you for your candor! 💗Much love.

I think the problem was concerning that Les guy was you shouldn't have been allowed to hang around him without an escort. He was 21? and you were 13. I think it's your parents fault for being too trusting. I also think this Les guy ended up addicted to drugs and probably spent time in jail. He either turned his life around or ended up dead.

A couple thangs(grew up heavily in 90s rap game so not appropriation), your traumatic event happened, not saying it didn't at any level, but there was a 9/11 study where they checked in with people a year, five years, and ten years after and they found people's recollections were false almost half the time. Still happened, just the where you were stuff not so clear. Malcolm Gladwell did a podcast on it. Did a pushup, ate an egg, what else can you do with it? We're Earthlings lets blow up Earth things. Amirite? (tangent over). My second thang(see earlier disclaimer) is, yes, not every 20+ year old with a 40+ year old dude is being groomed or even abused, taken advantage of, etc, but its a flag for us other 40+ year olds. It sucks to say, but the 20+ year old might not understand until their 40+. If your into older men/women, cool. Like when meeting a new drug dealer, a friend might come over and whisper, "Is he cool," just to make sure your safe

People can minimize the issue all they want, but I don't think that most people would like their name to all of a sudden have a negative connotation like this. Sarah's reaction is probably what the caller gets now anytime the caller speaks up. (Sarah's eyes all but shouted "Karen's being such a Karen.") I hope this usage goes away very soon.
