I did this job on my Astra and it was a pig of a job. Those pliers make it so much easier. I've been give the job of servicing a Corsa C that has been off the road for 2 years so this vid will help me when I come to do the fuel filter. Edit: The fuel filter was a complete mare of a job and I ended up breaking the end of the fuel feed pipe. I've had to buy a replacement on eBay. Getting the pipe off involved dropping the tank down enough so I had enough room to liberate the pipe. The filter was rusty so it had to be replaced. I've shot a video of the service and I'll post it up once I've finished the job. I'll be spraying some white grease on it to prevent it happening again.

very clear great vid thanks just about to try !! also got cutting out problem so hoping fuel filter will change that, update. Very challenging, the filter looked like it hadn't been changed for 10 years, the return connector with the y connector was ceased on the filter and fell apart. I'm now trying to get a replacement, quick connectors with the T piece don't fit , and trying to heat the return line hose to let is expand over the connector is virtually impossible on a hose 20 years old , in short filter cheap rusty connection and deteriorating hoses causing hassle

great movie works on the Australian 90s combo van as well as for the tool you can still pinch it with normal pliers just remember to keep those little clips to put on new filter.
@hcashmore118 жыл бұрын
For future, to stop petrol leakage, some cars you have to tilt the filter to get it out, so use the rubber caps from the new filter to block the old one before removing, it'll stop any petrol spillage :)

This might be foolish question but why isn't all fuel coming out of the tank if you disconnect the fuel line there? Also do you know if the trick with the removed fuel pump relay and attempting to start the engine works on the Peugeot 205? I mean don't you break down anything using that method?

Hello mate, I have a Opel Corsa b which my daughter collided on to the back of another car. I suspect that the inertia switch or the fuel cut off switch has jumped and cut off the electricity to the fuel pump and perhaps to other parts. The car is completely dead and except engine light nothing else lits. I have looked everywhere to find the "inertia switch" or "fuel cut off switch" but I can't find it. Can you help me locating this switch please? It's a Opel Corsa b 2000 model. Thanks in advance.

@KW-qq7nu4 жыл бұрын
Quality presentation many thanks. Is this the same procedure for the Corsa D 1.2 petrol would you know please? Again, many thanks.
@KW-qq7nu4 жыл бұрын
Ah, this is me answering my own question as I have just discovered that the D petrol, does not have an external petrol filter. It has a so-called lifetime filter. It is apparently part of the fuel pump and therefore lives in the petrol tank. So when the petrol pump dies, you replace that and in so doing, the integral fuel filter. Scotty Kilmer suggests that the pump dies BECAUSE of the lifetime filter clogging up over time and therefore making the petrol pump work harder till it eventually gives out. Replacing the pump looks fairly straightforward and the cost for the unit varies depending on the brand. £50-£170 is the range I have seen today. I'll leave the filter alone now and foccus on the stuff I can do.

Hi thats a really good video and very helpful so thanks for that. I wanted to ask you about brake pipes. I have a corsa c and it needs brakes lines front to rear and some others renewed for MOT. Can I do this myself or is that a bit tricky? Also Ithought I'd renew with copper pipes but I also see that there are stainless steel pipes on the market. Which is best do you think? I'd like to do hopefully a permanent job so this doesn't come up again. I dont suppose you have a video of that job lol. What sort of cost would you expect a garage to charge for this? Hope you can help , thanks, Joe

Hi, might be a bit of a long shot but what is the guard just in front of the filter (that the fuel lines slot into) called? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Also is it really needed as mine's falling off, just being held on by a bolt. 3:26 gives a clear shot - its the piece on the lower right hand side of the screen

You jammy sod! This can be an absolute pig of a job. You made it look so easy. The black plastic clips can become brittle and break. Your Astra's fuel filter is similar so I hope it is as easy when you come to change it. The fuel filter was something I didn't do when I recently serviced my Astra. It was replaced as part of the subsequent MoT work that needed doing. It wasn't secured in the bracket and was one of the failure items despite getting through at least the 2 previous MoTs like that.
