I'm just learning Photoshop. His explanations are clear, slowly derived and understandable, and easily followed. I have been viewing many Photoshop tutorials, and most do not explain the "why" of things. This guy does a fantastic job. The pace is perfect: just try and follow someone posting a "short." No can do. Kudos to you!

What a gem of a tutorial. I've watched a variety of tutorials and usually felt more lost that helped. This has been the exception. The teacher is easy to follow. He doesn't talk and work so fast that you can't keep up and understand, and his insight is amazing. I highly recommend him and hope to find more of his tutorials.

Excellent tutorial. I mainly use Lightroom, and occasionally photoshop.I have struggled with layers for years, picking up tips along the way. Guess what - your instruction to make sure that you are working on the mask for white to reveal, black to conceal is the first time anyone has made that clear to me. Thanks Mark, great stuff.

This has been the most concise PS tutorial I have seen thus far. I'm new to PS and have been searching for a tutorial where the person teaching moves at a speed and with details that make it easy to follow along and also to understand. Thanks again for another awesome tutorial - you are a great instructor. There are so many tools in Photoshop and so many different ways to do the same thing which I think is what makes it so confusing when I try to learn different ways of accomplishing the same thing and then I start to confuse the different ways and the steps involved. Your explanations are very straightforward. Not using Photoshop on a daily basis also is a challenge to remember exactly how I do everything.

Very easily understood diction. Concepts were explained well and the level of assumed knowledge was kept low so beginners will have no problem following along. Very long video with lots of information. The course ran 1h4mins in length but it took me about 3 hours to complete because I completed each task as he did it on screen. The course is a little deceiving if you just watch it, he makes it look very simple, but you really don't get much imprinted learning that way. You really have to do as he does and the photos are provided to do that. I will definitely look for other videos as I expand my knowledge of photoshop.

I've been using clip studio paint which has been ok for years I've just made the jump to photo shop. This is the best tutorial I have watched - and I have watched a lot. I'll have to revisit the adjustment layers and curves sections again but really helpful. I learned quite a few things like the right click to select the layer. I cannot believe I never heard that one before.

Hi Mark, I have been following you for some time now and have been on the fence about joining TSOP. I have always had a problem understanding layer, masks, ect, ect. I have only used LRC to edit my photos and I have used PSE a little but I do not use PS because it is very hard for me to understand and at 75 yoa it is not getting any easier. What a breath of fresh air - someone who not only understands photoshop but more importantly knows how to impart knowledge that a viewer can actually use. Ive watched too many photoshop videos that are designed to impress - but fail to impart anything useful! Masks and layers in photoshop are not difficult to use - once you grasp the reasoning behind how these tools work. This video has explained both the "what and the why" masks and layers are so powerful - at a pace where the viewer has time to properly absorb the concepts. Subscribed!
