The longer the game went, the more impossible it would have been to win for SKT. It was clear who would win even just 10 minutes into the game. Early game comp with terrible sustain damage and teamfighting Vs a scaling teamfighting comp. And the early game game lost early anyway. They got straight outdrafted AND outplayed at the same time.

Ivan C Fizz is incomparable to LeBlanc. LeBlanc simple does not have the damage or defensive tools that Fizz does. Playful trickster is by itself more powerful than any ability LeBlanc has, and Fizz has a much more reliable CC. That draft was far better than the MSI one, and actually had a chance of being useful as the game went late, unlike their MSI comp.

I think a lot of people forget that SKT didn't actually look all that strong at 2015 MSI. They only barely beat Fnatic and ahq in the group stages two teams that on paper they should have had no difficulty with (in fact, in both their victories over Fnatic and ahq they were either even or down in gold and down in kills), and then they went to a game 5 against Fnatic in the semis, getting stomped by Fnatic in the two games they lost. In contrast the only game EDG didn't win was the only game where they didn't hardstomp, which was their game against SKT in the groups. So on paper, EDG had already had a much *much* stronger looking MSI than SKT, and I personally don't think who SKT started in Mid or who they picked/didn't pick would have mattered, EDG were just the better team and would have won the series regardless.

For the future people reading this and/or coming back to this. While it is true, that faker got counterpicked from every position except jungle, it has to be said, that this game was lost from the coach and bang. Never have I ever seen bang so bad in my life. When SKT where at equal gold, he inted (made mistakes someone like him never does/someone that good in lol doesnt) and not only once, but twice. Once during the fight at top side, deciding to ult into the enemy team WHILE HE SAW that there would be a morg right in face if he did, and second time during the fight at drake when he decided to walk into the morg when sivir was dead, and then getting morgana q'd because......honestly after years I still dont know wtf he was smoking to go for that play. Lost the game at the second point because of gold lead. Coach for the reason that this champ select was terrible AF. Obviously the leblanc shouldnt even be an option because of the maokai pic, and picking nunu was always bad. Taking Seju over Nunu was the pick in every scenario because nunu doesnt do shit for your leblanc pic that you desperatly wanted. Also there is the debate whether rumble would have been better than Gnar because of the Item build (lyandries) against tanks but you are locked when you pick the nunu to take the gnar because of the engage. All in All, pretty heartbreaking moment for someone that watched this live and knew what would happen after seing the morg pick.

Everything about League is mistakes. The whole reason why one team wins is because they are better at punishing those mistakes. The whole 10k gold deficit CLG had was an amalgamation of mistakes. But we don't watch League for it's mistakes (mostly), we watch it for the plays, and game 2 had tons of them. Not to mention Kobe going absolutely mental.

And anyone with decent knowledge also knows that if CLG didn't fall into the 'solo Q fight all the time' trap that RNG forced upon them they could've focused on vision, farmed and scaled without being in that situation in the first place. What's so interesting about this game is how key certain mistakes were, and how well they were punished. As you pointed out, Lucian overstepping by quite a fair margin, however that would've been entirely irrelevant if Darshan didn't actively save his E to use on someone walking to close to a wall rather than just using it asap trying to push people away. It was a big mistake, but the key is that it got punished and it got punished incredibly well. Also that entire fight starts of with Huni completely whiffing an Azir dash/wall combo and ending up dying without actually contributing anything to the fight. Other than forcing Zed to spend resources to kill him.

I'm not an expert but here's my understanding of what happened. It's relatively simple probability, really. SKT brought Faker in hoping to force a Game 5, which they did. EDG "baited" Faker into choosing LeBlanc, his best champion, by not banning her. If you were in a make or break situation, you'd definitely go for your very best and that's exactly what Faker did. If Faker had picked any other champion, EDG would've played like normal with a 50% chance of winning. However, since Faker chose LeBlanc, for whom EDG already had a counter strategy in mind, EDG's odds of winning went up to 90%, basically. The moment Faker chose LeBlanc, EDG knew they had him. It's also a testament to Faker's skill, seeing as a whole team had to counter pick his LeBlanc.

its 1 year late but heres the answer for future people wondering why(I was also live watching the game during that time): Knowing leblanc and the metagame, he understood that enemies picking maokai as first pick completely nullifies leblanc. If you jump in, he w's u, and u either get stuck in the enemy team, or maokai gets into your team (you dont want either for obvious reason that this is old Maokai ult with damage reduction on his ult). Maokai being a normal pick during that time meant that them picking it didnt seem like something huge, so they thought they just made a mistake by leaving lb open. Well, and then his coach probably said, that he should pick his comfort pick instead of a more logical champ.

i dont know if kkoma and faker himself lost their mind... i mean... they used the same comp as in game 5 vs fnc. a professional team especially edg can easily knew that comp as first pick is urgot an off meta champ at that time. so even i can predict that skt would used the same comp so they just pick all counter champ to that. second the first two pick of edg were maokai and alis both are the best counter champs to leblanc so why did kkoma still ok with the lb pick ( kkoma even told faker to play that while he still considered to play lulu i think it is much better at least than lb) and also mor and sivir both have their skill to counter lb burst so they just wait to mid late game when lb is totally useless with 5 counters also skt comp is not a very may be worst late game teamfight while edg had alis maokai both very tanky and sivir a hyper and boom game over =)))) i dont want to show off or sth like that but it is too easy for me to point out as i am a main old lb =)))
