Hi, incase you weren't aware, you can also make leaf mould, which is a great light weight soil perfect for potting up. just collect a huge pile of leaves (I use pallets screwed together for my compost bins and leaf mould bins). Leave the leaf pile from 1 year for 2 years and you'll have beautiful potting soil. I start a new bin the next year for another leaf mould, so generally have 2 leaf mould piles going at once. Just be sure to collect a huge pile because it reduces a lot and its beautiful stuff to add to veg beds and use for potting.

fwiw my brother made a composting toilet in a shed using an old council recycling flip top bin, about chest high. Cut a hole in the floor and a shallow dip in the soil, steps up into the shed, a wall to wall slab of wood with a toilet hole and lid, air pipe and fluid separator drain. Worked perfectly, took a year to fill, wheel it out of the back of the shed, slot in another one. Leave it a good few months to finish composting. No smell ever. Inoculate early on with a few spadefuls of soil and leaf litter. Decorate with led solar light strip, astroturf carpet, bookshelf etc. The lip of the slab conceals the front bit of the bin so you don't even notice it.

We used the roofing you have bought you must buy the aluminium ends to cover the foam insulation we weren't told about it with the result of the insulation degrading from the sun and weather plus the aluminium has completely rusted up and we have to renew it. It hasn't been 10yrs very disappointed. Buy the end panels spend the time to silicone/seal it to the roofing boards. They will last longer. I'm really enjoying your videos 😊

You need to be careful putting chicken manure on your plants. It is too hot for them and will burn them. You can put in the soil surrounding the plants but don’t let it touch the plant. I always let my chickens into my garden at the end of the season so they can have what is left and so they can poop all over it. I dig it into the soil and leave it for the following year to then plant my vegetables in it. 😊
@THESCOTTERS

If you want to have a productive vegetable garden you must have full sun all day long. That means cutting down all of the trees that now shade your garden area. And you must have the ability to do a deep root watering at leat once a week. For this season, I would buy some conventional 10-10-10 fertilizer and apply as directed. The chicken poo with all the straw should really compost for one year. That material looks like it just came out of the coop. Too fresh. The fresh chicken manure will jump start you compost pile if you mix it in on the next turn. There is nothing wrong with using commercial products (potting soil, fertilizers) in the first year or two as you are getting established. In the grand scheme - it's just fine. I'd suggest a kitchen garden potager) just outside your kitchen so you have quick and easy access when you are in the throes of cooking. If your kitchen window looks out on your potager - it's even better. 😊 The term for clearing the undesirable trees and competing vegetation in the area surrounding a desirable sapling is to "release". That is a very real strategy to encourage the desirable species to become dominant. Being a good steward of a woodlot means exactly what you are doing. Keeping undesirable vegetation (like brambles) in check is a good reason to have two milk goats and an easily relocated bit of electric fencing.

You'll never sand all of that cladding. Too much surface area. Your only option at this point is to oil it and nail it up rough. If you really wanted it smooth, you should had had the sawmill run it through their thickness planer - one 1 side or S1S. They likely could have ripped it to a common width S3S so you had consistency for lap siding. The only option now is to hang it vertically and use battens over the joints.
@THESCOTTERS

( Englich is not my first language, so spelling and maybe using the right word can be difficult for me). A very good furtaliser/ manure is urine. You have to mix with water before you put it on the plants. Some say 90 % vater. I normaly do about 2 third water. It works very good.

You step on Lemongrass everywhere you walk in Portugal , that's why you don't find it in the supermarket , your neighbours might have plenty. The Portuguese don't use lemongrass for cooking , they use it as a medicinal green tea , it is called Chá Príncipe (Prince tea) , don't go buying Pink Pepper because it is a decorative tree that you can find in town streets and squares all over the country , Oregano and Thyme are wild plants that you may find in the supermarkets but are cultivated and are absolutely scentless and tasteless comparing to the wild ones.
