While some are picking fault with Hoyle, anyone can see what his intentions were and they simply went awry. The reason this is causing the SNP leader to wet himself, is because his intention was to play politics with the Israel/Gaza situation. Following convention would have seen Labour votes going to Flynn's amendment where Labour MPs were otherwise whipped to abstain on the Tory propositions. This would then have have been seen as a Labour rift or a rebellion of sorts, because many Labour MPs wished their views to have influence at least somewhere.. Flynn is rattled because his little trick failed, and Labour remains split about precisely what qualification should appear alongside _'an immediate ceasefire,'_ because it is meaningless without a strategy or stated position on what comes after it. All parties have a right to debate whatever they want in domestic and global politics, but it is clear the SNP tried to use this for their own ends domestically. In applying a little more parliamentary democracy than is usual, Hoyle has flattened Flynn's little plan, and as we all know, the SNP are simply not great fans of any democratic process.
