Patrick Harvie challenged over Scotland falling 'significantly short' on decarbonising home heating

At Holyrood today Liam Kerr asked the Scottish Government what its response is to a report by WWF Scotland that states that Scotland will fall "significantly short" of its target for decarbonising heating in homes.
Mr Harvie acknowledged the report was welcomed but challenging.

It should be shut down in light of the revelations that for the past 15 years the only thing on the agenda was ripping the union apart. Exactly. Can you imagine the elderly living in say Thurso or Dunreay. Much colder up there than Patrick Harvie's place. Heat pumps will really struggle that far north. This green policy has not been thought through by The Cabbage Patch Kids (Greens)

As a Plumber and Former Gas Safe Engineer , as far as I am aware , all pipes and Radiators have to be enlarged ,, ie Pipe sizes from 8mm to 22mm and Heat output of radiators say 3000 btus to 6000 ?

​@@Alan-gx8gfI am an ex college lecturer with 40 plus years on the tools, all radiators have to be double the size as it can only reach 55 degrees so is more suited to underfloor heating. Plus they have built in immersion heaters to assist them. Just a gimmick.

This planet is carbon based, literally, everything in the way of activity and life produces CO/CO2. The problem with the "Green Thought" is that it only looks at a minute part of the full planetary ecosystem, we call Earth.

A friend of mine has just moved into a new build house which has a air source heat pump installed and according to him the house is not very warm he has had the engineers out they say it’s working fine but he thinks it’s crap and is going to get a 36 kw boiler installed as it’s a big house,Patrick Harvey hasn’t got a clue; who has a spare £15.000 and a large cupboard to put the tank in, Gas boilers will be around for a long time.
