Aijā by Sudden Lights, Ulveham by Gåte and Europapa by Joost are definitely 3 of the biggest robberies of the last few years imo. Gåte also deserved much better, but hey, at least they reached the final… We don’t talk about the Joost incident, but as a Dutch person I’m still so… disappointed that our new national icon, our exporter of a frankly forgotten piece of Dutch culture, our ticket to the top 5 or even top 3, was just eliminated by the EBU on an exaggerated story.

LOVE that you're giving Norma John their flowers, which they truly deserve! I rediscovered ''Blackbird'' in 2021 and it became one of my most listened to songs that year, and it would probably be the one of the first songs I think of when thinking about robbed entries. But apart from that I would also say: - Conan Osiris - Sudden Lights - The Humans - The fact that Lena won with ''Satellite'' when the much, much better follow up ''Taken By A Stranger'' only came 10th in a pretty weak year. If you were to put those two songs up against each other today without context, I would pretty confidently say that TBAS would perform better. - And lastly Eugent Bushpepa, because even though he got a pretty good result, I think he gets robbed in the sense that he in large parts often gets overlooked when talking about the greatest singing performances in the competitions history and all time Albanian entries. I also think he played a significant part with his result in 2018 to rock music again starting to find its foothold in the competition and encourage rock musicians to consider Eurovision more seriously. After a long negative trend of rock- and rock influenced entries having less representation in the modern era of the competition, it reached it's low point in 2017 statistically. So this encouraging result and performance the next year, couldn't have come at a better time.

I would add Poland 1994, robbed of victory. This was the year many countries from behind the Iron Wall participated for the first time, and having one of them win that very year would have been iconic. The singer sung parts of her song in English during the second rehearsal (which was not allowed back then as you had to sing in your national tongue), officially due to sore throat and English being easier on the vocal chords than Polish. This angered some of the delegations and made them to push for disqualification. When that attempt failed, they still refused to give points to Poland. In result, Poland finished second.

Portugal 2019 was so shocking for me, like I get that the song is unusual and not everyone would get it, but it was so unique and so cool, I still have it in my playlist

I cannot thank you enough for reminding me what Slovakia's song from 2010s was. At the time of the show I didn't even know Eurovision existed, but i somehow stumbled upon the song in middle school and fell in love with it immediately. That might have been the first time I heard of Eurovision, actually. So thank you so much for reminding me of Horehronie, Gabe!

As a Slovak Eurovision fan I felt the pain from Horehronie not qualifying as well as us dropping out from the contest. Considering the current political situation, I don't think we'll be in again, but I still have hopes. Nice video Gabe!

Great top 10 robberies!! I was horrified when Blackbird did'n qualify. Also, Hohreronie NQ was depressing (and when i realized the jury vote sank them oh gosh... why!!)

Dadi is a good call, but my vote for "Most Robbed" is Germany 1975. Joy Fleming sang the hell out of that song, is (almost?) always in the ESC250, and somehow got 17th of 19 songs. Insane.

I would add Pastora Soler from Spain ("Quedate Conmigo") from 2012 as underrated. Still one of the best ballads ever in ESC.

I am still bitter that Finland didn't choose Erika Vikman - Cocciolina to represent Finland for that 2020 ESC that never happened. She was crazy and party before Käärijä.

Fun Fact: Nina Žižić (lead singer from Montenegro 2013) is returning to Montesong 2025. IGRANKA WAS SO ROBBED THO (hate the juries for where they put this) [I commented this before the video was released😅] Edit 2: I agree with all of these lol

I feel like to general public Eaea felt like just annoying screaming that they couldnt understand so they didnt vote for it. I felt the same way while watching the performance. Like yeah its unique i guess but it just comes off as in your face screaming nonsense 🤷♂️

That was an odd one for me. I started off enthralled by Eaea the first time I heard it, and as the season progressed it got rougher and rougher on my ears until I couldn't listen to it anymore. I'm used to songs growing on me, not the other way around. I still really appreciate much of it muscially but can't really handle that style of vocal, so I wasn't actually very surprised at the televote result.

I'm sorry but I'm still smug that I had predicted that Ea, Poe and Adrenalina would flop, to various degrees. Ea was not inaccessible, it was just unpleasant to many ears. Poe had very poor staging and did not really reflect the message of the song. Adrenalina was just chaotic and Eurofans and viewers in general do not appreciate Americans getting involved. PS: just for balance, was very wrong about Gate this year, that one still hurts and I was shocked when it came last.😱

Thank you Gabe for a great video! I love the concept, hope you'll continue to do videos like this! I agree on Blackbird, loved that song, and still do! Additionally, I think Olly Alexander was robbed this year with 0 televote points.

Ukraine’s song 2019 siren song by maruv not going to Eurovision after she won the national finals in Ukraine due to a shitty contract that stated that she can’t perform in russia and other things that made her a target for Putin which she didn’t want that and said no to the contract and they decided to pick the second place winner instead but they didn’t want to agree to the contract either so they didn’t go to Eurovision that year

I absolutely LOVE Horehronie! I was in a horrendously bad mood for at least a week back in 2010 when it got done dirty, and I bring it up every. single. time. there is any sort of Eurovision-adjacent conversation happening. I even wrote a story inspired by it. That's how much I love that song.

I was so massively shocked when Blackbird did not make it through that I seriously was thinking of not watching the final at all. For me it would have been first time in couple of decades if that would have happened. But I forced myself to watch it and I was happy I did because my other favourite Salvador won and Blanche was 4th.

It wasn't a Eurovision entry, but the fact that we (Germany) could have sent Electric Callboy to Eurovision and instead decided to go with Malik Harris' song Rockstars is my Roman empire. I don't think they would have won, but Pump It (the song they wrote) is so much fun and I could have seen it in the top 5 that year. It didn't even qualify for the nationals, because "it's not radio marketable", which is really stupid. Luckily we got our shit together against that and sent Lord of the Lost the next year, but they were also robbed. Blood and Glitter is a banger and I still can't tell how it finished last.

Two recent non-qualifiers who were robbed: Latvia's Sudden Lights - Aijā 2023 (one of my favourite choruses in Eurovision history) and Denmark's Saba with Sand 2024. Two recent last places who were robbed: Germany's Lord of the Lost - Blood & Glitter 2023 and Norway's Gåte - Ulveham 2024. Two recent 2nd places who were robbed: Finland's Käärijä - Cha Cha Cha 2023 and Turkey's maNga - We Could Be the Same 2010.

In 2013 my best mate went all out and held a Eurovision watch party where we all had to bring an item of food from each country for a buffet (vodka jellies from Russia, paella pots from Spain, Guinness pie from Ireland etc.) The centrepiece was a cake he’d worked on all day that was decorated like an astronaut’s helmet. I arrived slightly early and told him that, unfortunately, Montenegro’s astronauts hadn’t qualified, and it might look a bit out-of-place. He then proceeded to slap all the fondant icing he had left over the astronaut’s face in a mad panic to make the most lopsided union flag cake I’d ever seen. It then collapsed under the weight of the icing and tasted too sweet at best. This is why I’ve never forgiven the juries for tanking Who See 🧑🚀🧑🚀🇲🇪

Horehronie is still a huge hit here in Czechia (since, you know, us and the Slovaks were one country up until 1993 and I'd say the main cultural staples are shared between both countries) and it gets played on the radio quite frequently. This, Malá dáma (Czech entry from 2007) and Hard Rock Hallelujah were pretty much the only songs I knew before getting into Eurovision last year. And yes, I was shocked with every single one of them, when I found out they were Eurovision entries.
