There's tons of videos of mistaken identity, people killed in their own homes because the police entered the wrong home, immediate shooting of black people while white mass shooters are declared as people with "a bad day" by police. Not all police is bad, not all police are racists but it's definitely more than enough of racist policemen for it to be a widespread problem. I'd rather have no police than ones with itchy trigger fingers.

I hope these medals were only awarded to the officers who actually made efforts to stop the insurrectionists and protect our congresspeople, and not the ones that just let them through/mishandled the whole situation. The medals should only be handed out after an actually complete and thorough investigation on why the insurrection was even possible in the first place.
