This is how the American women can break the women's 4x400m world record at the Worlds in Tokyo next year. 1: Shamier Little (49.50) 2: Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (48.00) 3: Gabby Thomas (49.00) 4: Alexis Holmes (48.60) This amounts to a time of 3:15.10, 0.07 faster than the current world record. This is possible because in the women's 4x4 final in Paris: 1: Shamier split 49.48. 2: Sydney has split sub-48 twice before, so she can likely run faster than 48 flat if she's healthy 3: Gabby split 49.30, but she did stumble upon receiving the baton, so she could likely have run faster. This is her fastest 4x4 split, so she would need to "go off". If Sydney can split 47 again, Gabby splitting 49.30 matters less. 4: Alexis split 48.78, but she could have run faster if she knew Team USA were that close to the world record.

I think 43.03 is underrated. It took Michael Johnson years of consistent sub-44 to beat Butch Reynolds 43.29. 43.40 to 43.03 is a 0.37 difference which is like 0.18 in the 200m or 0.09 in the 100m. If someone was running 19.37 while that's amazing, they'd still be behind MJ, Lyles, Blake & Bolt. If someone in the 100m were running 9.67 they'd be closer than anyone to Bolt, but honestly a tenth of a second in the 100m is a lot. That's like 9.79 to 9.89 for reference, or 1st vs someone between 7th & 8th in this years 100m final. I'd say only MJs 43.18 is close to WVN's 43.03. That record is safe for now. Arop & the pacer both messed up in my opinion. The pacer needed to exit in a way that didn't impede any other athlete's & needed to realize that Arop was close to him & going outside for the pass. At the same time Arop could have just been patient & waited for the pacer to move as it's normally not a great move to pass a pacer by running around them when they're going to be moving off soon anyways.
@JumpmanTF4 ай бұрын
Arop messed up, and wayde showed bugger all consistency before dropping 43.03. I think it's closer than we think, since both 800m and 400 records are getting close they've clearly figured something out in terms of these anaerobic events. Whether it's training or 'supplements' idk. But both them records are looking vulnerable.
@richardgallimore59764 ай бұрын
@@JumpmanTF The 800m is looking vulnerable, I still don't think the 400 is that vulnerable though. More than it was a few years back though. 43.40 seems to be a barrier for many, I think it's similar to the 9.80 barrier in the 100m where-as 43.20 is likely more equivalent to a sub-9.70. Since 1988 only 2 athletes have surpassed Butch Reynolds 43.29, just MJ & WVN. A bunch have athletes have got around 43.4x~43.6x, there is Quincy Hall, Matthew Hudson-Smith, Jeremy Wariner, Michael Norman, Steven Gardiner, Quincy Watts, Fred Kerley, & LaShawn Merritt. So while only 2 have gone sub-43.20, & 3 sub 43.30, there are 11 athletes who have got a sub 43.70. Similarly in the 100m only 3 athletes have ever gone sub 9.70 & 11~13 I believe have gone sub-9.80. Those times in each event that only 3 athletes have achieved & close to the current human limit, so going from 43.40 to 43.02 I think is harder than going from say 45.00 to 43.40~43.70. Obviously that's very hard & only the best of the best have pulled it off, but 43.0x is completely different than those times.

the only runner who have the calibre for the wr for the lap is Tebogo as he has the sub 10, sub 20 and sub 31 like Wayde. I wont put my money on the rest. Norman and kerlan are out of the 400 and dont focus on it at all. Normans time is also up and has never produced anything at olympics and the world champs

Tentoglou again wins the long jump by the skin of his teeth, down in 6th or 7th on the 5th jump and barely makes 3rd for the final jump and then wins with 8.06... even though if you look at Pinnock and Ehammers jumps and measure them from where they actually jumped from both were over 8.30... Long Jump right now is plain weird, remember the days where 8.60 was considered a warm up jump for Carl Lewis. Tentoglou is consistent in the weirdest way possible, hes consistent in context to his competition but in terms of his own potential hes all over the place and less consistent than Greg Rutherford in terms of actual distance

Tentoglou is the definition of a championship performer. He'll have his ups and downs throughout the season but when it comes to championships he gets the job done even if he has to clutch it on the last jump. And yh when it comes to distances the long jump is an event that seems to struggle to maintain performances close to world record standard. I had hope in Echevarría challenging the wr after his windy 8.92m but since his injury at Tokyo he's been completely off the radar. He's still only 26 so he can come back but it's seeming less likely every season that passes by.

The disrespect on the 400m is crazy, in my opinion that is record is more impressive than the 100m record 🤷

Ah cmon, while it IS true that Wayde is the ONLY guy to run under 43.40 since the 1990s (!!!), Bolt leading everyone else by a full TENTH and then some, and the fact that anyone active are still 18 hundreds behind that WR is just a gigantic leap. But yeah Waydes WR is very very impressive, it is just too bad he never ever ran close to it before or after again - Wayde were never under 43.40 again.
@MVXXll3 ай бұрын
400 looks doable if you look at wayde van niekerks time before his 43.03. His times before his wr were on par with times of the best athletes now. Now lets talk about the 100. Nobody in the current era is looking like they will beat it (at least this year), Nobody has ran a sub 9.70, which is understandable because of how remarkable it is, but bolts record is 58. Not saying its impossible but I feel it is probably unrealistic to say that anybody could beat it out of the blue without even being close to his 2nd or even 3rd fastest time. It is a legendary time. In the 400m there are people with the potential to do so, and even with the high level of challenge, it is probably doable. They are both very challenging and all require such an astounding amount of effort, but I feel that the 100m record is less beatable and the 400m time is the one more likely to get beaten. That saying, if the athletes that have the potential right now are unlucky or do not work hard, it could be impossible.

Hey mate, I enjoy your videos but your take on Jakob is completely wrong re: can't run and think. Hocker is running under the same conditions and runs 2+ secs slower, does that imply he is brain dead? Also, do you realise in the 1500m final that Kerr/Hocker/Nuguse were essentially paced by Jakob to 1450m under perfect conditions. Better than what you get in Diamond League. Poor execution by Jakob perhaps, but not necessarily dumb if you are the 4th fastest all-time and in the shape of your life (see 3000m WR). Jakob gets singled out because he is Jakob, but everyone benefits from him being in the race, whether in the rare instance they can catch him, or in most cases, not.

The only track WR that is vulnerable this year is the men's 800m, I've been saying this since before the Olympics and I'm going to keep beating my drum here. (I don't count either SML or Mondo's WR at the Olympics because they're breaking their own marks.) The men's 1500m is a lot more durable than people think it is, the conditions would have to be just right for Ingebritsen to get there, he's basically on his own unless he can rope in Josh Kerr as his pacer (this is not a joke, El Guerrouj's pacer for his WR was the guy who went on to beat him at the Sydney Olympics). I doubt we're going to see the men's 400m WR broken any time soon. The women are closer to breaking the 400m with Marileidy Paulino now number 4 alltime with Salwa hot on her heels and Marileidy was powering down as she came to the finish line whereas Quincy Hall and Matthew Hudson-Smith were flat out. Think about how impressive Paulino's run was to get that close to the WR when it was set during the Eastern bloc doping era versus the guys who are trying to break a record that is only 8 years old. Letsile Tebogo might get that in the next few years as someone else said in the comments, why are people surprised by his 400m relay times, he holds the 300m WR. And on the Athing Mu front, didn't anyone else notice that SML was the only Kersee athlete to show up at the Olympics? Kersee athletes should find someone else to coach them because he's clearly not up to the job anymore unless you're SML who could probably succeed if she was coached by a hamster.

@@InsertCleverUsername Thanks for the spoiler lol. Nah, no worries. I'm happy to see Ingebritsen walk away with Komen's record (sorry Komen!). It was a great run and well-deserved., he didn't just break it he annihilated it. That distance is not a usual championship race distance though so my comment didn't really apply.. I'm sticking to my guns that even after his performance in Silesia Ingebritsen will find the 1500m a lot harder to break.
