Tib fib fracture... did the same thing 10 years ago, definitely not fun seeing your foot dangling on the end of your leg... Hopefully they can fixate everything without any external metalwork else it's gonne suck big time. Estimated 5 to 6 months recovery time.

From the looks of it he stuck his leg out ( which is instinctive sometimes) and the bike fell on him. I’m guessing had he not extended his leg out like that he may have avoided the break.

I saw a guy do that with a karate uniform on. Shin kicking a sand bag in a dojo. Bare skin bone snapped in two a few inches above the ankle. Best thing you can do is splint it, so it doesn't flop around like that.
