For the sound Q on mirage. The one Karrigan throws you can land on the ledge before the fence/gate and won’t make noise. Same with the B side smokes. After you throw your smoke, while still in air, hold “D” and you will land on the edge to your right, making no noise.

I've been working on a gameplan to make these type of fakes work in a 5 man and it's super hard to actually get the other team to buy fake smokes. You really have to get it in their heads in the first couple rounds that where the util lands is where you're going to go. But when stuff like this does work it's super fun to think that you've just outsmarted them. Great vid tho!

i think it's important that the fake smokes are not jump throws. what's the point of the fake if the jumping sound cue gives up your position anyways.

They are done from a safe position where jumping doesn't matter and then again jumping doesnt confirm anything for ct other than 1 player's presence. If you have proper map control it can still work even if they hear you jump because of the lack of information

@@theunderachiever2334 the mirage smokes can be heard by the cat player (common CT position), inferno can be heard by arch player (common CT position). Dust 2 and ancient look safe, but anubis is somewhat iffy on whether CT can hear the jump. The point of these sort of smokes is for the late round when both sides have lost players and so neither has good map control. Some of these are thrown in positions that can be heard by CT, lacking information might setup, waiting for the site hit. Hearing 1 guy jump throw a smoke can completely negate the effectiveness of the smoke as the location of one person would comprise the entire team( you're alone), half the team (2 alive), or one third of the team (3 alive; cutoff point at which the risk/reward of faking makes sense).

The problem with some of these is the angle at which the smoke comes in at. If I’m A site on Mirage and I see a smoke fly over con to stairs there is no chance I’m thinking it’s a legit A smoke especially if there is only one enemy left

It would be interesting if there are smokes that may also simulate the expected direction perhaps with a particular bounce, but I imagine these smokes are extremely rare. It's probably just something you have to live with, and gamble on the CTs not noticing.
