I've actually checked a few elaborate Reddit posts and comments across multiple platforms complaining Win 24H2 has made ther overclock/undervolt unstable, requiring them to drastically reduce it's stable clocks they've been using, sometimes for years, for a higher temps and lower performance. I suggest you google "Windows 23H2 vs 24H2" and dyor. Cheers and good luck.

@@Vaiz_ Fast startup remembers what you were doing before you hit reboot or shut down. Then when Windows starts up all the apps that were open when you shut down/rebooted open to where you were before the shut down. Personally I thought the name was wrong since it takes longer to boot. With it dissabled it takes longer to shut down since Windows is shutting everything down before actually shutting down.

*GREAT job overall. My 2 cents (minor)* 1) NEVER disable the Pagefile - some older programs may crash without it regardless of system memory usage - there's NO speedup to disabling it in 2024 - so it's only about SAVING space (I just leave mine at max, for me, 32GB) 2) TRIM/Defrag - leave on DEFAULT weekly and ignore this - Windows will TRIM/defrag as appropriate on its own 3) GAMEMODE - probably helps more on systems with limited CPU and memory - either way, just leave it ON as said 4) Core Isolation - while I don't know if the security advantages are that great (it's complicated) I take issue with the approach that "if they really want to hack you then they will" thus might as well disable Core Isolation. That's a terrible mindset and isn't actually true. Plus, it's certain that FUTURE security enhancements will build upon these features so sandboxing might be of questionable benefit now, that does NOT mean it won't be in the future. (I'm NOT saying don't disable Core Isolation. Also, be aware that if you disable Core Isolation then incompatible drivers may cause problems if you enable it later. I installed "Asus Suite III" or whatever it's called a few years ago, then later turned on Core Isolation. The NEXT time I rebooted I couldn't get into Windows. I finally figured out I needed to disable "SVM" (virtualization) which in turn disables Core Isolation but it took a while to figure that out... )

Sure, but I'd also consider an "In Place Upgrade" of Windows at that point. Basically download the ISO from Microsoft, mount to a USB stick and run Setup. Then choose to keep your apps/files during install. It should REPLACE many of those corrupted files and potentially fix things the above doesn't recognize.

Keep them going! 2nd, I like to compare your videos to Tech Yes City and Greg Salazar as the other 2 KZbinrs I follow also post very informative videos on tech stuff. Hope to see you do some sort of collaboration with them in the foreseeable future. 3rd, I have another tip that can wring more performance for your CPU. Disable the Meltdown and Spectre security fixes. I heard these fixes severely downgrade CPU performance especially on older CPUs. But what are your comments on this? Keep those videos coming!!! :)

since the default windows defragment utility is pretty mediocre, i had really great experience with the 3rd party option since i think windows 7.. it’s called defraggler and it’s super light and straightforward to use, however it’s much slower with defragmentation taking up to 10-12 hours for 1tb drives, but i have to say that forza horizon 4 was actually unplayable really and i when i booted the games for the first i got a warning saying that the game has detected a “slow storage” or whatever, but after the defgraggler finished in about 5-6 hours it was working super smooth and i wasn’t expecting anything out of this, just had some free afk time for the pc so i tried it 🙂 edit: the reason it’s slower is because it’s defraging free space as well afaik cheers mate

Quick question Fabio, regarding AM5 7000 series APU drivers... I learnt from you that it is better to get AMD chipset drivers directly from AMD's website rather than the motherboard manufacturer's website, but what about APU drivers for my Ryzen 7600 on my Gigabyte B650? Or... do you even need to install separate APU drivers, after already installing Radeon Catalyst GPU drivers, since the CPU graphics are the same architectures anyway? Though i don't mainly use my CPU's integrated graphics, i still want them bug-free & ready-to-go if i need them for a program or use-case that is able to utilize it.

I think your take on core isolation is correct but a bit too generalized. For people who are often CPU bound or play a lot of CPU bound games like competitive titles with uncapped fps or higher capped refresh rates in other games I'd definitely just leave it off. All users shouldn't expect to see much of a performance uplift in GPU bound or capped fps scenarios where your CPU can already consistently deliver above your capped framerate. Highly situational depending on your the titles you play, your system, and your use case, but generally not bad advice.

on the core isolation part i am fully aware that it has the drawback of deprecating performance however i use vm's which core isolation also helps with my system ain't just a gaming rig however i am going to get a mini pc and separate my browsing habits from my gaming rig and mostly make the gaming rig offline a lot of games do not need the launcher to authenticate themself which is neat once i got the mini pc core isolation will no longer be needed on the gaming rig and mini pc actually can game because the 780m chipset is actually quite good at 1080p and you are correct if someone wants to get into your system they will its always just been a matter of time not a matter of can they however that does not mean you throw everything to the wind it is like me saying ow i do not need windows defender lets disable it completely because i practice safe browsing sounds great but if i make a mistake then i have nothing to fall back to to try and protect me even if that could fail majority of security incidents have one thing in common human error that said all these protections do jack shit i seen some of the malware in development using ai crap on top of it and wel they might not be used but when they are what they claim to do is scary as hell because they are stealth oriented and if they are detected they can just change the identifier of the file and continue replicating themself on top they can bypass the firewall completely and you get that windows xp directly connected to the internet situation within windows 10 and 11 which means you can just be on the desktop and get infected doing absolutely nothing that said there is also the ipv6 vulnerability that wel just disable ipv6 on your pc and modem/router if you use windows as you can literally connect to anyone that has ipv6 if you have their address you can check if ipv6 is active by opening cmd and typing "ipconfig" then enter if the value behind the ipv6 doesn't start with fe80 then your ipv6 can be reached by the internet by anyone that has your full address note that the ipv6 vulnerability only happens in windows due to how windows handles ipv6 pc's with like unix operating systems so like macos or linux do not have this vulnerability so you can keep ipv6 on with those systems if you need it

you didn't mention that you can disable ALL startup items(programs, apps, services, scheduled tasks) from revo in a single instance. it's 10 times easier and you can do them all from a single page.

Hey mate, I bought a 7900x3d during the amazon sale. Upgrading from 5800x3d so new Mobo (mag b60) and ram. Gpu is 7900xtx. Delivery is only next week so now I'm wondering if it's a worthwhile upgrade. Pls help!

Well, that depends on your card. Unless you have some thing like a 7900xt or xtx, 4070ti super or 4080 super that upgrade will most be noticeable in rendering and some games, not all. Watch my 9900x review

Just use Windows 10 if you have Ryzen CPU . Source games run way better ( Dota 2, CS2 ). Also 24h2 only matches Windows 10 22h2 in several cases. Also Steam hardware survey shows Windows 10 is on the rise again.

Not really and has been proven again by HWU and by me haha. Just clean install 23h2 since it is bugged, or clean install 24h2

While revo uninstaller is very nice, i wouldn't recommend a closed source app to fix any issue (now that i think about it, is DDU open source ?). By the way, revo sometimes is wrong in his analysis and can sometime remove keys related to other software simply because they have a similar name so you should always review the scan.

One small tip: Don't defragment your nvme SSDs. It will cost you their health.
@AncientGameplays

When you defrag on windows, you're teiming it, it even says there... thid happens since early windows 10. So no, you're not causing any health issues. In fact i have an early 120gb ssd that has been working almost every day since 2013

as long as you have lots and lots of ram 32 or 64 GB you can probably soft turn off the page file. I wouldn't completely turn it off as if Windows or an application tries to access it. you could get a crash. I manually go in and change my page file to 16 MB start which is the minimum up to a maximum of 1024 MB. Windows will also use this for other things like blue screen of death crash reports in the event viewer. again, don't turn it off completely but minimize it and you will definitely see a boost to performance when multitasking
@AncientGameplays

I wouldn't turn it off nowadays unless you have at least 48GB

@@AncientGameplays I'm a computer technician and network engineer. I assure you if you have at least 32 and run a clean/tight ship, you'll never run out of RAM. novice users should probably just leave it alone, but this is high level enthusiast content and I think it would be okay for power users like us. again, it's unwise to completely turn it off but only giving it 1 GB to ensure applications are utilizing your RAM definitely can make things snappier.

Do you experience stutters in many games with your 7800X3D? I see several stutters starting from around 20:44. Just wonder if it's something that can't be fixed and it's the games and not a hardware/software issue.

@@AncientGameplays Alright, so is there a way I can tell what's causing stutters using RTSS? I'm playing a lot of MMOs and get ocassional stutters even in low populated areas. Of course no CPU can handle big groups of people casting abilities tho. I also notice other games have what I think is asset stutters due to loading in. I got a 7800X3D/4070.

@AncientGameplays You can't disable your pagefile entirely! I know because I did it in the past and for most cases it works very well. You need a small pagefile (200mb) to run some other programs and/or games without any complains about a "missing pagefile". Also a small pagefile does not work well with some games (not many) when getting a "running out of video memory" error (I think "CoD: Warzone" was one of them and that was crashing with a "low memory" error).
