This week, Autosport magazine celebrates 60 years of one of the greatest names in motorsport - Lola. Eric Broadley's firm became one of the leading providers of customer racing cars and a second wave of success was uncovered in the noughties with former customer-turned-owner Martin Birrane.

The awesome Lola T70 was the independent racers hero! It fought a strong fight against the mighty Ford GT 40's, Ferrari LM series and Porsche 917s! As a boy I remembered having a Lola T 70 slotcar and my brother had the Ford GT 40! 50 years later the Lola still lives on!

The twelve hour races at Surfers Paradise in Australia featured the Lola T70 against the Ferrari's, Porsches and locally built sports cars. The 12 Hour rated among the best motor racing events I have attended anywhere in the world. The T70 was definitely the number one Lola, and of all sports cars, arguably only overshadowed by the Ford GT 40.

nr.1 1969 T70. The factory should have made a street version. What a beautiful styled car. Later on, there was so much disappointment during the Lola Lamborghini F1 tears years.
