Two years ago when I got a set of P790 I had the hardest time figuring out my distance. It took 4-6 rounds to really get them down. But then I would have the flyer. PW is normally 130-135 and ends up going 150. I really like the cobra. For my next set, I went with PGX tour 4th gen. Butter

I have the forged tec x. When comparing loft and offset between the two, they are the same with a different number stamped on them. The x has 40 more grams of tungsten but has a larger top line. Higher and longer with less spin but still drop and stop with a Bridgestone rxs. The xs backs up a little until the 7 iron.

You can always go back to the Stealth if they are hurting your scores.

Your distances are pretty comparable to mine. Stealth and Cobra Ltdx are longer than these Forget Tec. However if you get the chance try the X model. They have incredible feel and the distance is right on par with Stealth with more of a players look. Love the vids.
@fuzzybanana38702 жыл бұрын
If you or Gabe give them the time these irons along with most hollow bodied will far out hit a game improvement, even with weaker lofts. I went from burner 2.0’s to ping I525’s which are 1.5 degrees weaker and out hit burners by a mile. Actually thimking about it Gabe wont, his swing speeds are too slow to get the most from players irons. Its what most reviewers dont tell you, players irons are phenominal for better swing speeds. I swing 7i at 88-91 mph and i routinely hit 165-170 carry with ease, and a 31.5 loft.
@geoman93242 жыл бұрын
I think hollow body irons in all the brands for a player thinking long term could even be a starter set. A dedicated learner would be done with game improvement within 6 months.
@stephenkaye342 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, maybe a starting player could get used clubs as opposed to buying game improvement, but after one season it's definitely possible to be fit into a hollow set

I hope higher handicap players aren't worried about hitting "players" irons, truth be told they will help you become a better player and improve ball striking with all your clubs, there will be some frustrating times while adjusting but they will help in the long run over the crutch of huge clubheads if you're still looking to improve
@danielcohen31592 жыл бұрын
I have the 5 and 6 in the standard Forged Tec. I love the look, but I guess I've been a bit spoiled playing more GI clubs at the top of the bag (5 is the top of the bag for irons for me). I found the Forged Tecs to be less forgiving than, say, the 0211 and the Apex DCB. But it's a different club and a different design. Maybe should have gone for the Forged Tec X. On a decent strike they're just sweet, though. Great flight, tons of spin.

Normally I do not really care whether the lofts are a bit jacked or not. If your set of clubs has a 7i with 29.5 degrees of loft, it will fly about the same distance as my 6i at the same loft in my set. There may be little differences in ball flight, maybe the 7i flies a little higher, descends a bit steeper - ultimately the number on the bottom doesn't matter as long as you know how far they go and how the ball reacts on the green. However, looking through the lofts of the set, I am concerned about gapping. Normally I want 3-4 degrees of loft difference between clubs which give me an ideal gap of 10-13 yards between clubs. With the forged tec there are loft differences of 5 degrees per club from 8i to GW (Tec X is even wider). That is a little wider than I like, you may find gapping of up to 20 yards between clubs depending on your swing speed.
@GOLFADDICT652 жыл бұрын

Do you think you could do a review on the cobra Forged Tech X irons? They are a little bit more game improvement oriented and would be interesting to see how they compare to these! In comparing how you played with them Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal compared to these I think you played better with them than these? I understand the workability of these is attractive but I think if you were playing five rounds of golf with both of these and the 921s I think you would score lore with a 921s once you were used to them. Great video G surely it’s the path of the club head and not the head itself that determines draw or fade ? Shaft suitability could effect swing path just not sure how the club head will ? I know weights can be set to help a draw or fade but not on irons . The face technology can increase sweet spots for more forgiving distance, can you explain how the club head itself helps a player draw or fade a ball ?
@pokey472 жыл бұрын
Game improvement irons have so much perimeter weighting for forgiveness that when you try to hook or draw it self corrects to hit it straighter (helping to limit the hook or slice for new or weak players), so your 'planned' hook or fade goes straighter than a 'players' club.
@adrianlovett34832 жыл бұрын

I got fit for Mizuno 225’s at TXG and I can’t believe how forgiving my slim sexy players distance irons are. My mishits are generally hitting it thin as my attack angle is fairly shallow. Love the luck, and I’ll buy them if you don’t put them in your bag.

Gabe, those clubs arent short, your swing speed is too slow for them. I play ping 525’s that are 1 degree weaker than those and rountinely hit 7i 165-170 carry. Players distance irons, even with weaker lofts, will far out shine a game improvement irons with medium fast to fast swing speeds. They are not made for slower speeds. Doesnt mean you and others wont benefit from their forgivness and workability, but you wont benefit from the complete rockets they will produce. When you stick a 220 yard 4i 8 ft from pin you’ll understand. Complete rockets!!!!!

Today it was, you're right. I'm having a little bit of a wrist problem. But once that clears up, I think I'll get my swing speed back up. Sounds like you've got these or at least tried them? Good to hear.

@@LetsPlayThru Thanks for the reply Gabe, enjoy the channel. I play Ping 525’s, got it march. I unfortunately have not hit the Tecs, but wanted to, werent available yet. I did 2 fittings for mine and was told by those particular fitters that they wont even fit players irons for a 7i swing speed under 88, wont get most outta clubs. Im right at 90-91 and my pings are missle lauchers. 31.5 loft on 7i and 165-170 carry is very easy.

Pings are hot. Very low spin. Have enjoyed the forged Tec over the i525s. Pings nice though
