I love your channel and have learned much from you and share you with others who have goats and/or sheep. I had a second time freshener give birth to two big beautiful kids today. At first all seemed good. Kids were dried off, finding the food source, and she was being the great mom I know her to be. I now have her doeling in with me being bottle fed and kept warm because its cold outside and Tabitha suddenly decided she hated her and was tossing her and making her scream. I have no idea what happened, as she seems fine with the buckling. I hope in the morning they can reconnect and be good together again. The little girl weighs 7.6 lbs, so she’s not struggling. Goats!

I always enjoy your videos and actually have improved my management practices by following some of the advice you have provided. That being said, I have a question about the bucket for bottle babies. I raised 4 this past winter on a bucket that I purchased from premier 1, they all lived and did well. The only problem I had was when it was extremely cold, the nipples froze up (even after I put a heat lamp directly above the bucket) and I had to go thaw them out constantly. Any advice for avoiding this problem?

Hello! Nice to hear from you again. There is a bucket blanket available that you can plug in. I will look into this and get back to you. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it. We normally make a small shelter for the babies and put the bucket inside. We hear the shelter just enough to keep it above freezing…. We have a video coming up on shelters as well. 👍🏻

For a healthy lamb or goat kid the industry standard is 6 weeks. We try not to exceed 8 weeks.
