One planet you should have included was the “fifth giant”, which used to be in our solar system. According to a theory called the Nice model, named after the city in France where it was theorized, there was once a gas planet between Saturn and Uranus. It was pushed closer to the sun by Saturns gravity, and then got violently ejected out of the solar system and became a rouge planet. We don’t know what happened to the planet after that. It could be any planet we have observed. It could have been destroyed by a black hole. We don’t know. There is another planet that used to be in our solar system called Theia. It was a rocky planet about the size of Mars that was between Earth and Mars. It was pretty close to Earth. It’s fate was even more violent then that of the Fifth Giant. By then, Earth was a hot, lava flooded hellscape. And so was every other inner planet. Earth was starting to slowly cool down. But then Theia and Earth started getting closer and closer together. Until the two planets smashed into each other. Theia was completely destroyed, and the two planets fused. If Theia were any bigger, it would have destroyed Earth too, and both planets would be reduced to asteroids. The resulting explosion completely reset Earths progress of cooling. It left a lot of debris in Earths orbit. So for a short period of time, the Earth had a ring system. Then some of the debris started clumping together. The whole ring fused into one body. And that body was our Moon. So technically, the Earth sacrificed a neighboring planet so that it can have a large moon.

@anisaforsman2440
@anisaforsman2440 3 жыл бұрын
They're named that way for reasons. I don't think it's easy to name planets that are far away from our solar system. They must recognize the planets or something like that, idk how to explain it. I hope someone else can Edit: the planets are named after their own stars, but they all end with an extra letter or number because the scientists want to organize them correctly. Without these names then it would be very hard for scientists because these are outside our solar system and organizing them is something else when compared to organizing our own solar system. And yes, I do get the joke, it's just that I thought it would be cool to share something I learned a while ago with you guys
@anisaforsman2440
@anisaforsman2440 3 жыл бұрын
@GD Ghost thank you, that's what I was trying to say, but it didn't go well. I also forgot to mention that the planets in our solar system are our neighbors or should I say the important ones which is why they have creative names, which you already mentioned. Once again, thank you, I really struggle with explaining stuff, but you really helped me with that! :)
@rogueseven
@rogueseven 3 жыл бұрын
@GD Ghost I feel like they could come up with original and creative names for a lot of the planets. I’ve been making a list of possible names and so far I’ve made about 30 unique names. Plus there are science fiction references to take names from like Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, etc. As well as the many planet name generators online. I feel like a name would be more efficient for categorizing the planets.

I forget the name of the planet. But I remember reading about a planet that had constant 70-80 degree temperatures, no land forms and ocean's 3 times as deep as our own. Now that would be amazing to see and I no doubt theorize that as long as a stable atmosphere were to be obtained, that this planet already has some sort if life living within its vast ocean's.

I've had something of a phobia of gas giants, Jupiter especially, since around the age of 6 years old when I had a dream of falling into one, watching the gargantuan planet growing bigger and spreading out to the horizon, and then perpetually falling for what felt like an hour, through thick clouds, getting darker and darker as the light faded as I fell deeper into the planet, knowing with certainty that there was nothing below me but endless black and certain doom. The dream basically traumatised me as a child and gave me a kind of thalassophobia particular to gas giants. I know it sounds daft. The sheer immensity, power and apathy of Jupiter is just terrifying to me.

@@genozp2328 we have 8 planets and 5 dwarf planets, and no, the solar system ends at the outer edge of the Oort Cloud. to put what you said into prospective: Pluto orbits at around 40 AU from the sun, so, those planets you mention would be at around 80 AU from the sun. Voyager 1 is currently (after 40 years of traveling) at almost 150 AU from the sun... it would take Voyager 1 30000 more years to reach the edge of our solar system. so those planets you mention (in reality the only one that far out that we know of is Eris, since both Makemake and Haumea are more or less distant from the sun as Pluto, and Ceres is in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter) are well within the boundaries of our solar system
