It's worth mentioning that the red herring regarding Uranus and Neptune was actually the reason we discovered Neptune in the first place: astronomers inferred based on irregularities in Uranus's orbit that an unknown eighth planet was tugging on it, and that's what inspired them to search.

In fact, when the team that found Neptune finally began their search, based on a mathematical exercise by a scientist who could not convince astronomers in his own country to bother with a search, they found it inside of an hour. It was pretty much EXACTLY where the math guy said it would be.

The reason why we found exoplanets before Planet X is the detection methods used. We find exoplanets by looking at a star and measuring the light it gives off. If there is a rhythmic dip in light level, there most likely is an exoplanet revolving around that star. We simply cannot do that with Planet X because it revolves around the same star as us

@Atlantean Trismagistus I mean, it's all pretty obvious when you think about it. Only aliens had the magical powers needed to build the pyramids, for example. Mythological and folkloric accounts of magic make perfect sense if you consider that knowledge of such things were brought to Earth by visitors from other worlds. The reason modern science doesn't accept "magic" to be a real thing is simply because that technology was lost when the aliens left Earth.

Nah get outta here with that conspiracy joke the actual scientific answer it is either a Blackhole too close to detect or it's orbit is in a literal Blind spot and it's influenced by something massive outside of the Solar system (Likely a Blackhole) that causes its orbit to Fluctuate wildly. Basically we can't Find it with the methods we use to find closer Planets like Jupiter, Venus, Mars, Saturn, ECT because it is too far and has a funky orbit, and we also cannot detect it with longer range equipment because it's too close to use the methods we use to detect farther solar systems and Galaxies. The reason as to why it's definitely somewhere is due to us being able to detect the Gravitational shifts it causes.
@bernardr7182

Its the moon. It literally explains everything. Our moons orbit is almost impossible to achieve, let alone tidal locked. We can never see the dark side of the moon from earth. No other moon ever found has an orbit like ours. Almost perfect circle. Also no other moon comes CLOSE to ours size relative to their planets. Its 1/4 size of earth. The appearance of the moon if it wasnt there before explains the great flood also, since air vapor would drop. No seasons without the moon. Every crater no matter how wide doesnt go beyond a certain depth on the moon. NASA also recorded evidence its hollow by literally running stuff into it. It literally explains everything. If the moon vanished, its apocalypse time for earth again.

Something to note about the transit method. It only works for planets in near-orbits. It captures planets crossing the star after looking for months to a few years. Its not very useful for discovering planets with distant orbits. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune have orbital periods of decades to centuries.
@grahamking9121

Also, transits can only work for a planet orbiting its star in a plane in which we observers too lie.. or very nearly so.. which must be only a tiny fraction of all planetary systems.

No, they don't. Neptune had an opportunity period of 165 years. That's not centuries. It's only 1 fill century and .65 of another. It would have to be a minimum of 2 full centuries before it had an orbital period of centuries.

In addition the transit method is not as useful for finding planets whose orbits are not perpendicular to the Earth. I'm assuming planets can still be found by the gravitational wobble the planet induces on the star, if this can be detected.

If you are camping in a mountain and you have a fire, and there are lights in a city nearby, it is easier to see cars in that city with binoculars, than to spot a marble a few hundred meters away from the fire. The problem is that you rely on reflected light., and the car in the distance reflects more light than the marble near you. And on top of that you know the car is passing near a city light because you spotted the light first and the car is around. But with the marble you do not know where to look at.

If a planet is N times the distance from the sun than earth, it gets N^2 less light than earth. When that light travels back to us, it is N^2 times weaker (approximately), hence it is N^4 times weaker (where 1 is earth radius).

@darlenesmith5690
@darlenesmith5690 6 ай бұрын
@@mdesnica Yes, but we would not rely on reflected light. We would rely on darkness. The universe is very bright compared to pitch darkness, especially in certain light frequencies. If an unknown planet was close enough to be brighter than the background, then our supercomputers should have spotted it in the data from the millions of images captured by various telescopes over the last 34 years since Hubble. If an unknown planet was so far away as to be darker than the background, then our supercomputers should have spotted it in the data in that same timeframe. It would have eventually blocked out light behind it, especially when it moved between us and other stars or galaxies. It would not have blocked out a lot of light, but it would have blocked out enough for a supercomputer to be able to measure the difference. This would be a very small difference, but still measurable. The light from the Sun at that distance and returned to us, as you pointed out, would be extremely dim. So, my money is on Planet 9 being darker than background light, not brighter if it exists. There is no way that it would not be visible in at least some frequency of light as compared to the background light, either dimmer or brighter. They have found 2000 Keiper belt objects in the data. If they can find thousands of tiny asteroids at about 10% to 25% of the same relative distance, they can find a planet. For example, FarFarOut, which is mentioned in the video, is 1/4th the distance to Planet 9, but also between 1/64th and 1/127th the diameter (1/63.7 and 1/127.4, but rounded closest). This would mean that Planet 9 would appear in the data to be between 256 (64^2 / 16) and 1,008 (127^2 / 16) times larger than FarFarOut. So, it probably doesn't exist or they would have found it in the data and they have looked for it. Granted, that is an extremely large area to search; about 900 billion Planet 9 sized "points" in the sky if one searches everywhere (i.e., complete sphere around the Sun). That is a lot of hay to be searching for a needle in, but supercomputers should manage it, considering the number of asteroids found at close to that range.

The reason we can see exoplanets very far from us is because A) their host stars are relatively bright and B) said exoplanets are MUCH closer in orbit to its host star than planet x would be to The Sun. Planet X, if it exists is essentially in complete darkness at that distance. It'd be like trying to see a fly on the bathroom wall in complete and utter darkness.

The reason that we can't see it is because: a) it's glowing and we think it's a star, b) it crosses our system like an X, on a larger orbit, going from above to below c) we are looking in the wrong place, d) as it orbits our sun, yet we don't know the orbit or it's speed, it could be on the other side of the sun at this point in it's orbit, and, moving towards us and the sun. We can't see it YET.

(a) it'll still be radiating it's heat of formation ; but the searches are for reflected sunlight. When a candidate is found, IR observations will be a priority (and are likely already in the "target of opportunity" time budgets for appropriate instruments on appropriate telescopes). (b) the current (2021) model has an inclination of 17 degrees to the plane of the Earth's orbit. Is that enough "from above to below" for you? (c) significant swathes of sky are being surveyed. The time allocated on telescopes is substantial, but not everything. (d) it's inertia will keep it in the outer solar system where we don't need to worry about it. Whether it disturbs comets ... meh. Passing stars also disrupt comets. They'll come, with or without "Planet 9".

I remember reading about planet X in an article, but more of its recent version. That made the twists and turns really satisfying, but mostly to see and hear the whole story in the great manner thoughty2 always tells the stories was really neat, especially since I was wondering if I was right about the part with the primordial black hole, which was covered in the end. It's pretty remarkable how the lack of light will leave the whole subject in the dark. Needless to say, its cool to see how much progress this guy Thoughty2 has made!

Fun video, I liked the parts and history of Lowell, I wasn't aware of those parts outside of the segment on 1980 COSMOS. I would have like to have seen a couple more parts about Planet 9: - 10,000-year elliptical orbit, and how it's gravity is bending the ETNOS's orbits - The possible origin of P9 being ejected by Jupiter when it and Saturn flung Neptune and Uranus (and we think P9) out to their current orbits and caused the Late Heavy Bombardment when they crashed into the Kuiper Belt. - Orbital "tilt" of the planets to the sun might me caused by P9 over billions of years - And the possibility that P9 might actually have been fully ejected and the Kuiper Belt orbits might have been cause as it left the solar system. I loved watching How The Universe Works S6:E3 "Dark History of the Solar System" and S5:E1 "Mystery of Planet Nine" covered these parts.

Go observe the night sky with just your eyes. Look at the Moon shortly after it rises and then again several hours later before it sets. You need to do this when the Moon is in one of these phases 🌖🌗🌘🌒🌓🌒 to really see what's happening. It's shadow should be looking the same no matter how many times you look at it throughout the night, changing little by little every night throughout it's 28 day cycle from Full 🌕 to New 🌑 and back to full 🌕. But not any more... Not since Oct. 2010, it now looks like it rolls clockwise 180° E-V-E-R-Y NIGHT! (*NOTE: RISE AND SET TIMES VARY... Last week the Moon was rising at around Midnight and setting at around 12pm/Noon). Also on the next clear night go look at the stars... Try to do this observation of the Stars between 1am-3am and take Notice in the North Northwest Sky where a fairly large Circular area there isn't any Stars to be seen... Something big and round looks to be obstructing our view of the night sky (Stars) and it's likely what caused Earth to be tilted onto its side basically, which is the cause of why the Moon appears to be Cartwheeling 180° every night and it's shadow isn't on one side or the other 🌔🌖🌓🌗 anymore either, it now appears to be on the top and bottom going from a smile to a frown every night! And you believe they haven't found Planet X yet... They haven't told us about Earth tilting basically onto it's side yet and that's been 11yrs ago that took place... Yet not an announcement one or Breaking News Story about it either... They're hiding Earthquake and Volcanic activity from the public too, and we're who pays their salaries and funds and supports the Research Expenditures for this kind of stuff. The Poles are soon going to flip and they've been watching this very closely for some time. All the while they've been making preparations to save their own, the Chosen 1%. They aren't trying to save as many as possible and they know it a survivable event when Earth Poles Reverse the history of Noah is evidence of that, but their concerned for just themselves. We aren't valued anymore than Cattle to them... Not even an attempt to try and discuss ideas for trying to save any of us/general public. In fact quite the opposite is clearly thier approach that they're determined to take... Using a Bioweapon on the 99% before the Event takes place to make sure to avoid a mass hysteria and the angry crazed mobs of people they've lied to coming for revenge and potentially stopping them from getting out of harm's way, by whatever means they've prepared to do so, while lying and hiding this info from all of us. That's what the LOCKDOWNS WERE ABOUT... THINK ABOUT IT... AND THE CHEM TRAILS SEEDING ARTIFICIAL CLOUDS FOR GLOBAL WARMING, TO DIM THE SUN'S LIGHT TO COOL THE PLANET AND SLOW DOWN GLOBAL WARMING? OR TO ATTEMPT TO OBSTRUCT OUR VIEW OF OUR SKY'S AND BONUS THESE CHEM TRAILS ARE PACKED FULL OF TOXIC METALS THAT ARE POLLUTING THE AIR AND GROUND WATER... POLLUTING EARTH! CAN YOU ALL SAY... CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY! THAT'S THE BRUTAL TRUTH OF IT.. PLANET X DOESN'T EVEN MATTER PEOPLE! YANK THY HEAD FROM THY BUTTS PLEASE! LOOK AT THE MOON IF YOU THINK IDK WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT... IT'S FREE AND YOU CAN DO IT FROM DARNED NEAR ANYWHERE YOU ARE ON A CLEAR NIGHT.... ❣️🙏☮️🇺🇸🌎 I BELIEVE THEY'VE BEEN COLONIZING MARS FOR AT LEAST 2 DECADES IN PREPARATION OF ESCAPING THIS PLANET THAT THEY'VE BEEN RAPING AND POLLUTING TO A NEARLY UNINHABITABLE STATE... IT'S INSANE REALLY!!! AND NOBODY HAS NOTICED ALL THE CRAP THAT'S GOING ON IN THE WORLD AROUND THEM SINCE CABLE TV WAS INVENTED REALLY. AND THE INVENTIONS INTERNET AND SMART PHONES... WE'RE GROWING "HORNS" IN OUR NECKS AT THE BASE OF OUR SKULLS FROM EXCESSIVELY STARING DOWN AT THESE MIND CONTROLLING DISTRACTIVE GADGETS! THIS WASN'T SOME UNHAPPY ACCIDENT EITHER... Why would you say go check on a clear night. Why would there be a clear night if chem trails are used to cover the sky. Seems you are contradicting yourself here bud.
