I always carry a Gerber Truss multitool, a Milwaukee Fastback utility knife (with screwdriver), and a mini pair of Milwaukee tongue and groove pliers in my pockets. I have been called a walking toolbox.

Safety glasses in each and every tool bag. Digital Multimeter, Non-Contact Voltage Tester Pen, & GFCI Outlet Tester Studfinder Hex Key set (or part of a multi-bit kit) --- and he talks about it later. :) Milwaukee M12 hex driver is a nice light tool, and if you get hex based drill bits, they work reasonable. It isn't good for over 1/4", but for leaving at your family's houses in a tool bag, for when you're over visiting... and they go "Oh, I need you to do..."

A saw handle that takes reciprocating saw blades, then you can swap the blade out to match what you need to cut. At least one screwdriver you can use to pry with. Crescent wrench and a cheap socket set. A few electrical testers, but only if you feel comfortable working with electricity.

I personally feel that every household should have basic tools like these, and someone within the household should have at least a little bit of knowledge. Im not saying everyone on earth or everyone in the house, but somebody. Even if you still hire someone (pro or friend) it’s nice to know whats going on, and at least have the ability to do it themselves

For a home owner the kobalt(11 in1) multi head is fine. You dont need to spend alot on this kit. You dont need to spend alot to have a great homeowner kit.
