Nothing is harder than trying to make somebody pay for something you have given them for free. Subscription services on cars a bad idea. It is the type of idea that looks good to share holders and executives but you will almost never be able to spin into a posotieve customer experience.

In my experience all of the "little vans" had the same issue; it didn't matter what manufacturer it was, the reliability was horrible. Our company went from Ford to Mercedes and now to Ram because both the Ford and Mercedes kept having issues with the engine or transmission. Hopefully we have better luck with the Rams.

Eco diesel flopped because of the v6. The 6 cylinder diesel was already perfected by Cummins. Why would they use a blank canvas when they had the product 20 yrs before to revisit in a smaller form factor. The gladiator could’ve done great with a small payload if it was an inline diesel focused on overland and fuel economy. The simplicity of the engine design says a lot for reliability and still could get 350 to 450 lbft of torque. Inline 6 turbo motors have been notorious for boosting crazy power in the aftermarket with little modification. The resurgence of the inline 6 is on the rise. I hope to see the return for jeep/dodge.

I own a 2020 Ford F-150 King Ranch with the 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel. I live in the Vancouver area. Leaving Calgary AB and the cruise set to 100km (62 mph) I got up 29 mpg through the mountains. Getting home my overall average was 25.6 mpg. Also... pulling a 29 foot RV through the mountains, I averaged 12 mpg. I'm really happy with the Ford 3.0L diesel. I personally think it's too bad Ford stopped making them.
@victorford7003
@victorford7003 Жыл бұрын
Ford's stated rational for killing the Powerstroke was the supposed superiority of the Hybrid. How's that working out for you, Ford? The Hybrids are collecting dust on dealers' lots. They're fine for around town but owners who want a long-legged, efficient half-ton Ford truck are left hanging.

I have a 2013 Ram 2500 with the 5.7L Hemi and I get 2-4 mpg higher fuel mileage with 91 octane gas than with 87 octane gas no matter what time of year here in ND. So, at least in my experience, the hemi absolutely does notice a difference between the two octane fuels.

Also, the difference isn’t the ethanol content either. I’ve used both 10% ethanol 87 & 91 octane, and non ethanol 87 & 91 octane fuels, the same thing, occurs. The 10% ethanol does give me 3-5 mpg worse economy across the board though.

On the part of octane and efficiency the Ram 5.7 definitely would benefit from it, my personal Ram has bad valve knock at wide open throttle on 87 octane and runs a slightly better 0-60 after 2 full tanks of 93. In all reality any NA engine with over a 10 to 1 compression will benefit from a better octane as well as all forced induction engines. You can take the compression out with timing but it's basically a waist.

The GM light diesel is every bit as much a pile. We’ve had several come through our used dept. complete garbage. The bogus EPA debacle killed the Ram 3.0. I don't know why they would call a Hyundai Santa Cruz a p/u truck. To me a pick up truck , whether full size or mid or compact has one or two doors and a full bed depending on size of truck. The Santa Fe is nothing like that. It is weird and doubt if it can carry much of anything. I consider the Honda Ridgeline the same thing but that does have a quasi bed. These companies make these weird vehicles and call them something they are not.

Inelastic price assumptions by truck makers have been an abject failure. The people who work in this world can't afford any of their new trucks. EV trucks can't haul anything and when they do, their 80-20 range is awful. No manufacturer states the true range of an EV which is 80-20% not 100-0%.

15:10 there might actually be a much simpler way to do this. Run the 87 octane test, then put in some race fuel to raise the octane level to 93. Because race fuel is like 120 octane it shouldn't take that much to raise the fuel level in the tank to that level. I believe the measurement can be volume based, so if you have approximately 9 gallons in a take you shouldn't need more than a gallon to raise the octane level to 93. After you add the race fuel just run the test as normal, filling up at the pump as you normally would. Please check with Shell or ExxonMobil to make sure this is how it would work. I know a little about octane and fuel, but it's not my wheelhouse for sure.

It's common to lose payload with a diesel in most trucks, not just the Gladiator. The GVWR is a set value for the entire vehicle and the diesel eats into that rating. The same way that 2 wheel drive power trains have a higher payload than 4 wheel drive. One of the main benefits to a diesel in any Jeep is increased range and low end torque when off-road. If you need serious towing capacity, you're not looking at a Jeep anyway.

No it doesn’t. The LM2 had a small percentage that did, but the LZ0 has almost 0 reported issues. Every video on youtube, the truck has like 400 miles on it.

I at first thought the remote start for Toyota by subscription was a bad idea I now have second thoughts. When I bought my 2023 Rav4 I inquired about getting the remote start installed in Canada. The price varied but was 500-1000 depending on style and dealer. I got 3 years of free remote access and after that it is 10 per month. Well it would take at least a minimum of 7-9 years to pay for the install and parts. You also do not have a very long warranty on the product either. After that amount of time I will be trading and could care less. So it is not a great deal but it is about break even in my mind.

Toyotas are great vehicles, but unless the dealership installs the remote start when you agree to the subscription service, the cost of the parts are aleady baked into the vehicle's price and Toyota gets a few dollars more from you each month so you can use something you've already purchased.

Flops??? How about ordering a Brand New 2023 TOYOTA Tacoma TRD SPORT that came off the Assembly Line with defective electronics in Day 1! All TOYOTA Safety Sense Features inoperable directly from Factory! …and Toyota can’t get their own parts to fix it! RIDICULOUS TOYOTA… Makes ya wanna buy a Chevy COLORADO!!

Jeez it blows my mind talking trucks & mpg. You want mpg put on your panties & buy a prius. Now as to payload gas will beat it simply due to engine weight. However if you do any towing that's the diff. Further gas engines & Trans will not stand up to load & time. I got the 2500/Cummins for that reason. If I wanted just a grocery getters it would been gas. If mpg and a play truck the Ridgeline.

Subscription fees are like drug habits. Done need them, I wouldn't pay for Microsoft office with open source free. Why pay Ford monthly to turn on 360 cameras? Things lost, Little vans did have a lot of business users, sorry to see them go. 8 foot beds are almost gone now. We are getting to less choice, like going back to model T's color choice.

I am in Costa Rica right now. There are midsize trucks from Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Isuzus everywhere. They all have little diesels. Wish we could get those trucks in the states.

I wish instead of subscriptions, auto makers would make it easier to upgrade the options that you want on used cars like passive door handles or led lights at a decent price and easy to install packages from the dealer I know there are a few things I would pay to add to my truck and I’m currently looking to see what I can through the aftermarket I think it’s a market the manufacturer are over looking if they really want more of are money

Like Dodge not offering the Hurricane I-6 turbo in their 2024 Rams? The engine is now 2 sales years old and still not offered in any RAM truck.

I have a different take on the Titan. It needed something to differentiate itself from the rest of the segment. When the XD came out, it should have just become the new Titan and marketed as a more capabable half ton. Nissan should have concentrated its efforts on a single platform and made something a little special. Another fail/flop you've mentioned in the past, and I'm surprised didn't make this list, is the Hummer EV.
