I have a 2004 Z06, and agree, 100%, on everything you said. Proud to say that I have NONE of the "upgrades" you described in this video. I'm all about keeping it clean and as close to the original body lines/style as stock, while still adding a little uniqueness to mine to make it my own. The #1 compliment I get on the car is "this thing looks so clean". I will forever keep it that way.

the fender stripes are a grandsport thing. Started on the C4 and resumed on C6 and C7. There is no grandsport c5, so i sort of get where you are coming from. Also, i have a grandsport and i don't have the fender stripes. But i don't think this is the slam you think it is.

But I think most people think of Dodge when they see the fender stripes just because they do it the most. But I definitely see what you are saying, good call!

Okay I'm glad you said this because I think the grand sport is the first car I've ever seen fenderstripes on and Dodge has the little dual stripe thing but they don't apply it to any of their vehicles from factory at all

The fender vents on a C5 aren't functional from the factory anyway, and cutting the plastic to make them functional in the fender area really only gets you rock chips and scratches along the door. I agree don't put anything there, but they don't actually do anything to begin with. Hope this helps

If you reach your hand through the fender vent to the top and reach your other hand through the rear of the engine bay there is an opening that you will feel. It’s not a large opening but it does actually assist with heat soak in your engine bay. Again, MOSTLY for aesthetics though like I said

I'm a C3 and C5 owner. Let me start by saying in terms of style/preference you and I are aligned. I will definitely agree with you regarding mods that are actually a safety issue, such as the cheap wheels and seats. That said however, I am a "to each their own" type of person. Everyone has an opinion about what someone "else" should or shouldn't do with their car. I draw the line when people become the self-appointed Vette fashion police, as if one needs to review their social Vette etiquette agreement to be accepted. Personally, I tend to be conservative and spend my money on things that maintain my Vettes in good condition, or reasonable performance upgrades. If someone wants to toss on a fart can muffler, a whale-tail spoiler, and enough LEDs to make Clark Griswald jealous at Christmas; well go for it. But, if you ask my opinion, don't get butt hurt if I politely disagree.

Nah certain mods you start doing it makes your car difficult to sell and that's where I draw the line. I don't mind calling out people on their absolute cringe taste. They need to quit ruining good cars just because they saw a spoiler they liked on need for speed Tokyo drift. They need to be educated and shunned.

@@Globbs Well you make a good point, but I would argue that when they modify their car to the point it becomes difficult to sell, or they don't get the return on their investment; I call that education. One can shun someone all day long, but many times it takes a lesson learned on their own for them to realize the errs of their way. Now another odd way of looking at it would be: Each year the number of "decent" C5s decrease. And for those of us that haven't ruined our cars, their value goes up. So Mr/Ms fart can muffler, whale tail, LED, Tokyo drift wanna be is doing us a favor. Now let us all take a moment of collective silence for the poor sap driving that 11 year old Prius with racing stipes and a Holley window sticker that I saw yesterday.

I've also lived through a set of cheap seats and an accident (being rear-ended by an SUV in a Mustang). Sometimes even reputable distributors don't realize the seats aren't up to OEM safety levels. It's not something I'll do again.

I have 2002 & 2004 C5Zs and the front and rear (body/exterior) brake vents do NOT do anything without cutting them out-there are front and rear brake vents that are only visible when you remove the wheels-they work fairly well at cooling the brakes.

I got rid of all that gingerbread on my 99 C5 many years ago. I've owned and driven it for 25 yrs. It looks stock except for Zo6 wheels and has a pretty quiet exhaust. Does not look or sound like it would have a forged stroker 395 and a Procharger!

There's a reason most quality C5 splitters have the opening in the middle - that's because the car is a bottom feeder. The only way the other splitter options will work is if you turn the front license plate into a grille.

What about fake carbon fiber adhesive backed stick on interior dress up bits? You know the ones that go around the vents, door locks, center console, airbag, and so on. I've seen real carbon fiber overlays on eBay but passed on it even though it was inexpensive and actual carbon fiber. My boss at the powder coating and rim repair business I work at has a black Lamborghini Huracan. It has various solid carbon fiber pieces here and there on the inside and outside including a carbon fiber rear spoiler. The thought of me sticking all that stuff around the inside of my '04 C5 base made me think twice. I didn't buy the kit.
