I appreciate all these one-minute tips. I saw you perform around 20 years ago, in Minnesota. You were such a poised, gracious teenager, as well as a budding star organist. I'm glad to re-connect with you and hope to see you again soon!

Excellent suggestions! I enjoy playing them differently as well - they are quite versatile. For example, "Der Tag, der ist so freudebreich" works nicely using a 4' flute in the left hand, a light 8' (Gemshorn, Gamba) pedal stop, and a light solo reed (hautbois) in the right hand. In the volume of the Orgelbuchlein that I have, a remark for "Christ lag in Todesbanden" mentions that Guilmant played it slowly and began it softly. I play it at around MM=84, starting with a fairly quiet but full registration of 8' diapason and flutes for the first time through the first part; on the repeat of the first part I add 4' principals; going into the second part I add a 2 2/3 quint and 2' principal, and thereafter continue adding to end with a very full registration with mixtures and reeds. Another good resource for pedal technic is Lars Nilson, "A System of Technical Studies in Pedal Playing for the Organ"

Even J.S. Bach felt the need to make corrections. Interesting. Even Genius has its bounds.
