The ASM 300 and the first black cat are two books that have a huge upside at this point. I think that both have the potential over the next decade to recoup their losses. At a tier just below, that I would include avengers #1. Here too when the next movies come out, they could also see some of the value come back.

Good video. I've been noticing that classics are dropping across the board.

good video,...most of that bronze and up is so plentiful, i can see several hundred maybe if you really want something, but like paying 2 or 3 k for an asm 300 sounds insane to me,... . i never did like the cover for strange tales 110, even tho i like the character of dr strange a lot,... i also like those claremont/cockrum/byrne x issues-- i think its a classic run to have in the pc, but what taylor swift does r doesnt do means zero for me

Thanks for being honest about the movies actually affecting the comics… there’s a couple other comic biased bought KZbin influencers that swore up and down the movies had no effect on the comics. At this point, I really hope Disney doesn’t do the blade movie because it looks like they’re just gonna ruin that character and maybe tarnish the comic.💪

Only books I own on this list is X-Men 94 CGC 6.0 paid $400, and ASM 300 CGC 9.6 paid $900. Those comic book boom prices were wild.

I wish these price crashes would happen with first edition literature. But the prices of great literature only go in one direction. Slowly, but always up. Comics are prey to much more volatility.
@mightycomicsandcollectibles9 ай бұрын
Do u Collect vintage literature as well? I thought about getting into that at one point
@TT-fq7pl9 ай бұрын
@@mightycomicsandcollectibles Yes. I have for many years. Very interesting differences and similarities with the comic book market. Mainly, condition is of equal importance (but no CGC or other grading companies), and there's no real movie speculation. The vintage literature market is truly for long-time holders and not flippers! But over ten or twenty years, or longer, there's generally a modest and steady increase. Not the best kind of investment, obviously, but wonderful fun.

In order to do an apples to apples comparison on all these books you should be showing top middle and low grades for each. The X-Men #130 may have dropped in a single sale (which is by definition anecdotal) for a 9.0 but the 9.8s are still climbing. GSXM #1 in a 7.5 and 6.5 are not showing the drop of the 7.0 which makes the examples you've selected seem cherry-picked specifically to make your point rather than using a more scientific method. As you mentioned regarding ASM#300 all of these Bronze and Copper Age books are impacted by reholder-gate so some sellers are possibly unloading questionable slabs and savcy buyers are using that as a bargaining chip. Madame Web is of course impacted by the crappy movie, but the other books tell a different story when looking at 9.8s and across most other grades. It was good to hear you acknowledge the fact on the UF4. Low-grade Silver Age is suffering by all the mid grades that got slabbed in the past two years, and the prices show it. Even 1st Kang will organically grow again.
@mightycomicsandcollectibles9 ай бұрын
I state this in the video that certain grades are rising. But I also state this is my opinion that these have further to drop.

Digital comic NFTs are the way. Values are skyrocketing. The space doesn't really understand comics, they are just in it for the flip, but collectors are coming each day, and sweeping. Flipping a comic for 10x 5 mins after drop is so much fun

Sellers undercutting each other I agree, it’s a mess. Not good for the industry, it’s why prices keep pushing downwards. I love IG and have gotten most of my comics there last couple years but I see the big picture and it’s always posting under last sold, thank goodness they don’t report to gpa.
@mightycomicsandcollectibles9 ай бұрын
Dude I was just talking about this with an IG seller. It’s totally driving market down. Good for buyers. Not good for comic values.

Hello Lawrence! Love your reviews. Can you look into Conan 1 (1970) ? Every time I try to buy one it seems like they are going for way more than they are worth. I love the Conan stories that came out originally in the 1930s and was looking into collecting Conan. Totally out of my norm….im diehard Batman only…but love the Conan character and stories

The bottom line is that not all books in the same grade are equal. Presentation is extremely important.
@davelaughey4319 ай бұрын
I agree. One thing that annoys me is books completely faded by the sun can actually get a pretty good grade but look awful. On the other hand a book almost perfect but with a poly crease or a tiny bit of rust on a staple gets a 7.5 or 8.0 ????? seems totally daft to me.

Hi Laurence Good realistic review. My X-Men sliding down. I will always keep them. I have never understood how a movie from the modern age affects comic books released fifty to sixty years ago...

$3800 is still a lot of money for a modern book, isn't it? And do people really have an extra 4k to drop on a modern comic? Wow.

Why did you show the reprint of x-men 266? and hulk 181 and amazing 300... etc etc. People look at pictures and confuse values. Theres a reprint right now on a auction site for hulk 181 that is currently at 2075.00 dollars this is obviously because someone who dont understand reprints and scrolling through your video they could see the same cover and think that is the value. I'm just saying I believe you should use the right cover.

What ever happened to just picking up a comic book and just being able to reading it. REMEMBER what the GREAT Stan 'The Man' Lee stood for making sure that EVERY child knows how to read . reading is fundametal and still is. NOT suppose to be about 💵 and 📈📉 . I guess a lot people just LOST hope in what comic books were about really. But whatever. Thanks for reading my comment. 👍🏻 2/29/24
