I like the fact that this came out at nearly the same time as Saberious Snail's video on what he calls "Counterweight Commanders." You both definitely look at this topic in a similar way.

That is litterally the only reason why rograkh son of rohgahh is one of the best commanders in cedh. (Okay without partner he would probably be unplaybel) but the value he provides is unmatched. Turning on mana rocks like Springleaf drum, Mox amber or paradise mantle or "If you control a commander" effects or simply as sacrifice for Card draw, Mana or tutor effects in turn 1 is extreme advantage in tempo and value. The partner is only there for additional colors. Silas Ren gives you U/B and nothing more Tymna W/B and card draw and thrasios G/U and ramp/draw and an outlet for mana and the best combination is with Silas ren because of his colors I have never even seen a Silas in play. great video you got some really good insight into the format
@ChrisDavis-tt1dj12 күн бұрын
Agree. I play Silas Renn and every time I cast him people are confused. I have to explain that it is not a cEDH deck. Silas is an artifact recursion engine.

@@arrivtuber I think the mono colored partners or partner with partners are fair. Most of the OG partners are pretty broken. My Silas deck is an on purpose janky vehicle build.

I already played Lagrella to good success before this video, specifically because she is a great enabler for blink decks and also plays as removal (and you can blink Eternal Witness!) but looking at her as a consistent removal spell makes me choosing her make much more sense
@MAndrews97611 күн бұрын
I, too, created a Lagrella deck with the plan of using her to accrue more blink value. However, the consistent availability of removal she provides is a menace to most tables. She also facilitates a combo plan that ends the game rather than draws out oppressive locks.

Already commented this but would be really excited for a video about strategies that are in opposite colors. like control decks with red/green or burn/indirect damage with white blue artifacts, or others... and finding creative ways to find commanders that fit your playstyle in those colors. also, you have the advantage of no-one expecting it! thank you for bringing us so much content man! Also, looking forward to another facecam video!!

i play a heavy red stax deck that transforms into hard voltron with slicer as the commander, works really well at higher level pods due to non basic lands being hit by blood moon.

@JohnSmith-vk9ds11 күн бұрын
There's another MtG content channel named Baumi who has a video talking about a commander deck he used to played centered around Norin the Wary. Norin wasn't actually the commander, it was built using Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer. You build a board state of card draw and other effects that check when a creature enters on your side, and around turn 4 or 5 you cast Rocco to tutor Norin into play. After that every turn that someone casts a spell or attacks, it triggers Norin's self-exile. So it was functionally a Blink deck in Naya colors.

I've personally been looking at "Plagon, Lord of the beach" as he is both a finisher and a card draw engine from the command zone.
@alexgreenwood71112 күн бұрын
Very surprised that Plagon is a 5$ card. Do MTG players despise going to the beach so much they shun my boy Plagon ? a 3 mana commander that offers potentially generous card advantage and let your bad creatures trade or even close a game ? Count me in.

The first time I inadvertently came across this philosophy was with Aesi. I was green from the start but my decks were always a mess. When Aesi was previewed, the first thing that came to mind was “no one’s going to counter a ramp spell” and lo and behold Aesi ran a mean grip on my pod before I had to retire the deck

One of my favorite decks I have right now is a dimir Basim Ibn Ishaq voltron deck Since it's a voltron deck I already tend to run protection but it gets easier with counterspells since it's a voltron deck with blue Basim by himself draws an extra card every turn but while it's only limited to one it replaces equipment that I cast and It's very easy to get more card draw in blue He also makes himself unblockable whenever you do cast a historic spells so evasion cards that I would normally run I can slot out for other things He also puts a +1/+1 counter on himself he He does connect with an enemy so he grows bigger by himself All that for only 1 blue and 1 black, Basim is a criminally underrated commander Edit: He's also one of the only recent AC characters that I actually like

As much as I love to play sliver queen. It has a lot of pressure on its own to combo out, especially after its first death/exile. Lately I have been playing sliver legion in the command zone as well as a lot of recursion and the other lords in the 99. This has been the best placement to overrun the game for simply 5 mana when ever I’m ready to win the game

i bought my tymna after 6 years of playing the game. so now i used her in casual. that card is insane. categorically insane. also i build a janky oops all the blinking engines with the curve of non ramp starting at 4. the deck was horrible. then i put tivit at the command zone... the deck is insane for what it is. in battlecruiser they cannot touch me late game. the amount of resources tivit ensures are bananas. commanders are so strong these days that i would argue that stax pieces like dranith shouldn't be that hated.

Imo it is a true Commander,but it depense how you build her. I personally would Play her Like a Control/Draw and Go Deck, so you're able to get the Most Out her ability, poking your opponents and goading their best creatures. Which is only possible,If alela is around.
