Who guessed it? Avoiding milk, eggs, nuts, soy wheat and fish can help Eosinophilic esophagitis!

EoE person here, I'm allergic to Eggs/Dairy/Pork/Poultry just to name a few. Enjoy Life's cookies were an absolute treat when I was a teen, I'm super sad they don't make them anymore. It is also interesting to hear about medicine to help with the limitations of EoE, it wasn't a thing I had heard of untill years after my diagnosis.

This video’s awesome! I’m actually currently in a research lab at my university studying EoE and not a ton of people are aware of food products once they are diagnosed. Love how you’re educating the public abt this rather niche disease Dr. Schmidt :)

Thank you for studying this! My 12 yo son has basically asymptomatic EOE and keeping him on the budesonide slurry is hard because he hates the taste and doesn't have any symptoms although if he takes a long break, his scope results are nasty. I hope one day it's easier for kiddos to deal with this issue!

I have allergy flares whenever I get very, very, VERY stressed out. And generally the allergies that crop up are those food groups (plus citrus, and wheat). When I first had an allergy flare it was a time when foods like those cookies were not widely available so I ended up losing a lot of weight because I couldn’t eat much which led to more stress in my life. I am so happy these days that foods like these cookies are more readily available and can even be purchased in regular grocery stores.

Ben. You are so beautiful. As in like, yes of course outwardly very handsome LOL but I mean, a beautiful soul. I have a pretty good gage on people, I am not cocky, quite the opposite, but that’s one thing I have confidence & pride about; being able to tell how people really are. You are the type of person who would almost never put his own greed or ego first. Always looking to help, even if you lose out in ways. Not the type of person to NEVER put himself first, (definitely important especially necessities), but I mean in non-vital situations such as extra income where many would be selfish, you’re the type to do what’s RIGHT (Whether that is putting you first or not). You prioritise educating & important messages first, even if it meant less engagement money or success than more superficial content etc. You are so hard working, obviously smart, very caring and also super calm & comforting. Like an actual pure amazing soul that’s so rare to find. Your partner, family, friends and fans, we are so lucky to have you. Nobody is perfect obviously, but you are a great person, like a top tier human being. 😊😊

But 15 years ago when I was diagnosed the only treatment suggestion was to be treated for GERD, which I very much feel I don't have. I'm wondering if there are new drugs that I should look up and suggest we try to my family doc.

QUESTION: HELP, not asking for diagnosis or treatment modalities. Neighbor's AP called, her amylase and lipase have dropped 3 points below the lowest normal. who does she follow recommendations from. She's baffled and I don't know how to advise. AP calls lipase & amylase are low - you need enzyme therapy. Ok she called her oncologist and gastroenterolgist. Oncologist wants scans done & extensive blood work. Several results abnormal results, including her lipase & amylase count, 3 points lower. As AP's results. Most of the pertinent progression. She's lost 35 pounds, last 4 months & acute pain/nausea/vomiting after every meal. So she's eating once aday, as she hates what happens 70% of the time. Her gastroenterolgist did a scope and says everything is inflamed and took biopsies - back in 2 weeks, they'll call. Enzymes if you want. AP & oncologist says take them every time something goes in her mouth. Are the enzymes necessary? Any information would be appreciated, thanks. 😮
