Great info Matt. Thanks. I’m not sure why but this winter everywhere I fished in Arkansas I always had a dimiki style set up… but I got 3 times more bites on a long skirt swim style jig with a crawl trailer. I used the crawl style for the flopping flippers ( for like of better words) it’s was always green pumpkin and they would literally come from like crazed fish and blast it. I was mostly catching spots and The small mouth I wouldn’t even see but out of nowhere they’re shoot up from the bottom and snatch it from the spots. Like I said idky but it was fun. Thanks again. Oh yeah my son was doing well with a creature bait on the mark rig too. Every time he’d hit a spell of them ignoring his swim bait he would throw and get one. It wasn’t as consistent as the jig but worked kind of like a clean up bait.

The Nishine lure works Smelthead jigs are deadly for these style presentations. They are kind of a mid to forward weighted jig that has a darter head style effect. They spiral and wander and dart side to side extremely well depending on the trailer you pair it with and the water temps. I use the Nishine drop shot minnow trailer quite a bit along with othered. Varies quite a bit depending on which weight smelthead and which trailer pairing.

Your about to be close to my neck of the woods at Santee Cooper. I'm curious to see what techniques dominant there this year with FFS playing so much of role these days . It will be interesting to see the results. Good luck! We're in prespawn down here but with all the rain last month a lot of water is very very dirty!

When you're hoover rigging. With your average 3" swimbaits. What size hook& weight combo do you recommend? Obviously using core tackle terminal... What size hook & weight do you use for standard size fluke also?? Thanks
@MattStefanFishing10 ай бұрын
I use the size 1 hooks for 3 inch baits and the 3/0 1/8 oz for flukes

These are techniques that I need to learn, especially nowadays. I'll tell you I didn't know how I felt about ffs. To be honest with you a little more negative than positive. but when I bought a used boat and it not only had a Garmin livescope, but the updated livescope plus. your opinion tends to change overnight. So, I am more than curious to give it a shot. Tho, I have no idea what I am doing

Matt honest question is the new technology going to bring another kvd hackneys any of the greats different at more techniques than this? Are these electronic elements going to make everyone do the same thing. If so how is this going to keep anyone interested?

YUM FF Sonar Jig Head, Great Lakes Finesse Stealth Ball Jig Head, core tackle hover rig and tush are my go jig heads for that. Some of go to baits for that are z man chatterspike, A3 Anglers Crazy Tail Shad, LIVETARGET Twitch Minnow, Big Bite Baits Scentsation Smasher, and Zoom Fat Albert Grub 10pk. I find these also work great for tightlining.

FYI, this is the easiest and oldest way to fish for walleye. Thousands of walleye guys have fished only like this for decades. Without ffs. There are some real masters of this out there in Wisconsin/Minnesota. If I was looking for a edge I would start looking in the jigging rap/ shimmer minnow direction

Every fish has been pinged for their whole lives with 2D sonar. And to date never herd of any dieing as bass are for the most part catch and released. You need to focuse on the Chinese that are slattering the Wales bu the thousands 24-7 . Study show extinction complete by year 2029.

For all you scope haters: My buddy and I went out yesterday and did just this without LiveScope and absolutely smashed them. It worked on ball heads, hover rigs, darter heads and dirty jigs Matt Stefan guppy heads. Plastics were flukes, tremor shads, zman Jerk shads, and spunk shads! Not to brag but I also caught the biggest freshwater drum I’ve ever seen 🤣
