A Day In History

A Day In History

Жыл бұрын

In the years between the end of WWII in 1945 and the founding of the state of Israel in 1948, the men and women who would become the citizens of the first Jewish state in almost 2,000 years had already formed a small army equipped with an assortment of old British, American, and other assorted weapons, including a small number of tanks, trucks and armored personnel carriers. The Israelis had also formed the core of an air force that would eventually become one of the most effective forces on Earth.
With these weapons and the determination to form their own country, defend the Jewish people coming already living there and those flooding into the area from the refugee camps of post-war Europe, the Israelis had a good start, but one thing was missing - an intelligence and spy organization. Without this, the armed forces of Israel might not know of plans to invade and destroy their country, and to do harm to its citizens and interests.
In late 1949, the “Central Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations”, or “Mossad Merkazi le-Modiin ule-Tafkidim Meyuhadim,” or “The Mossad” as it is commonly known, was born.
Before we begin, we should make clear one thing - what follows is intended to be an informative video on certain exciting and unusual episodes in Mossad history. We're aware that from 1948 until today, both the actions of the Mossad and the development of the state of Israel are intense and emotional topics. While we condemn anti-Semitism in all its forms, we are also away of the many controversies surrounding both the Mossad, the birth of Israel and the current state of affairs in both Israel and Palestine. We are not taking sides - merely informing you about a part of history that many people know very little about.
Eichmann
EichmannBy 1961, the Mossad had existed for 12 years, but few people knew of it or much about it outside of the Middle East. Those who did were foreign governments and intelligence agencies, and those who knew the Israeli foreign intelligence agency was after them. Many considered one of those men to be one of the key architects of the Holocaust, former SS Obersturmbannfuhrer or lieutenant colonel Adolf Eichmann.Eichmann had been hunted by the Israeli government, its agents, and famous Nazi hunters since the end of WWII. Like many other Nazi fugitives, it was believed that he had taken refuge somewhere in South America, where dictatorships, some of them like the Nazis in many ways, sheltered or provided them with new identities. Quite a few South American countries, especially Argentine, Chile, and Brazil, had significant and influential German immigrant communities, most of them formed long before the rise of Hitler. Not all Germans in these countries were sympathetic to Hitler and the Nazis - neither before, during, or after the war, but a large minority were. It was thought that Eichmann and other Nazi fugitives would have sought shelter in these countries and some anonymity in these communities. Adolf Eichmann lived in Buenos Aires in a small house on Garibaldi Street. He worked for Mercedes-Benz and eventually rose to become a department head. In recent years, it has become clear that many people knew who Eichmann was and at least part of this story. In 1956, he gave an interview to a Nazi journalist and told him, in explicit detail, about his role in the Holocaust and the extent of the murderous program he helped to run. Parts of this interview were later used in his trial.The story of Eichmann’s capture is quite detailed, and the mission to both find and kidnap and take him back to Israel is well-known, but that’s not the point of this story. With the kidnap of Eichmann, his subsequent televised trial in Israel, and eventual execution for crimes against humanity, the Mossad became a known entity in living rooms around the world.

Israel gets away with horrors and malfeseance each and every day, and the world turns a blind eye.
@petermosherthepoet
@petermosherthepoet Жыл бұрын
@@johnmatthews4717’s one of the many things I despise about the entire mess over in the Mideast, John Mathews: That Israel, it seems, is guilty of terrible offenses, and commits them with impunity, while the Palestinians are made out to be the monsters. What’s worse, if you protest against the Israeli state, you are often tagged as anti-semitic, a label that makes you practically untouchable. Often times, these Israeli offenses are barely even reported, but let a Palestinian do something and see the world’s media jump to condemn. A perfect example of Israel committing despicable acts and getting away with it was the killing of that female journalist at the funeral a while back. I’m not going to go into the sordid details, but the story can be told accurately like this: Arab woman journalist pissed off very powerful Israeli men and was murdered in broad daylight, at a funeral, while the entire world watched. Any consequences for this atrocity? Please, it was barely even talked about, even as the Arab world raged. Come on Israel, at least stand for justice. After the horrors that were done to your people in World War II, you are the first who should have some sympathy for the Palestinians. End of story.

There was no substantial outcry over the relatively recent Russian interrogations following the terrorist attack there... not saying I support torture at all, though the word is often used too loosely. We should all be opposed to it, regardless of the nation perpetrating it. The condemnation should also scale with the specifics, for example 'solitary confinement' is often labelled as 'torture'.... I would welcome it if I ever went to prison.

I mean as an American I can’t judge them for that. I’ve seen my own do much worse to folks that have never done a thing to them. There are still wrongfully imprisoned Arabs in our jails accused of terrorism that are still waiting for a trial. Many are quite possibly innocent. @@HarryTzianakisTheGodOfSpeed Sure. It's easy to think that this is nonsense, until you are aware that the facts you've known for decades, which are historically, and scientifically verified, are true. Of course, partly because of the "lapidary" nature of the text and its laconic presentation, I wouldn't expect many people to believe things they hadn't already known quite a lot about. If 80 % of what is presented is absolutely accurate and objective , in my estimation, then I am willing to somewhat trust the remaining 20%. The "back stories" of Gehlen ("Fremde Heere Ost", BND) and Skorzeny are not secret. They have been accepted and verified by all sides, whether during the hot wars, cold wars or intermittent peace in the last century. The most important thing is to keep an open mind, to keep learning, to listen to others. Peace.

Didn’t Israel have claim on that that land for thousands of years B.C.? Before the Roman and Ottoman Empires
@steventreadway9966
@steventreadway9966 7 ай бұрын
Respectfully if that is your logic, Israel has had claims to that land since before the time the Pyramids were built over 4500 years ago. Long before the Phillastines were even thought about, before the language changed to Palestine. If your logic then suggests Israelites lost claim when they were massacred by numerous other invaders, it could also be argued that others lost it when Israel conquered it again in 1967. There has not ever been a nation of Palestine, ever. Palestine was the name of a region, not a nation or a people. Like the Appalachian, the Rockies, the Sinai, the Serengeti etc. Logic always recognizes Israel’s claims. I understand that doesn’t sit well everyone. But ask yourself why PERSIANS in Iran are so adamant about ownership of land they have never had any claim whatsoever to. Iran is not Arab, they are Persian. Iran is just upset that their mullahs cannot control people of any other faith than Islam.

Eichmann wasn't a fugitive he was an expat. When he was tracked down and kidnapped by Mossad in Argentina, he was drugged and smuggled onto a commercial flight back to the Jewish State in 1960 (strange this had to be a secret and not an internationally supported mission!?!?). Eichmann was held for over a year, again, in secret, where he was tortured for at least 9 of those 12+ months. This ultimately culminated in the production a 'confession', of which he made this statement at the beginning of his trial, "With me here are 6 million accusers". So its from this statement where that number comes from.

I read a book on the zundel trial. In the trial the jury ruled that Raul Hilberg one of the godfathers of the narrative was unable to come up with any direct evidence for a systematic genocide plan to be carried out in the camps. That would have required vast amount of logistics. Moreover there was no evidence of the chambers either except for the survivor's testimonies and some very shady nurnberg testimonies. Hilberg said the reason there is no evidence of either gas chambers nor the plan to extermination is that it had to be a telepathic "consensus of minds" which didn't leave evidence behind that would have been necessary to organize and carry out such an event.

The pump is steam powered, running off hydrogen peroxide. Point is it can be built cheaply AND scaled up. When analyzing Israel most people omit (mostly because they just read on Wikipedia rather than investigating), that the Israeli army had former German officers among their ranks. There were Jewish officers in the German army before Hitler started to remove them. So, this is not only about materiel but also about human resources and as ironic as it might sound, Israelis put in action many Nazi German's military tactics and strategies, which also expanded to their covert services: ruthless as the Gestapo was, Mossad was inspired by the same methodologies.
