This reminds me of my first night sleeping on a sleep number bed. I barely slept wondering if I had the correct number. I changed the air setting 5+ times. I would lose my mind wondering if my weights were correct.

I have a combo of SMS standard 4-7 and SMS Pro 8-PW. Absolutely love them! I wish I had also gone SMS Pro 7iron, but I might buy one If I feel the need. These are the best irons I have ever hit. They go so straight it's unreal. I got fit for them and the heavy weight in the middle worked great during the fitting. On course, I was seeing the 7iron flare off to the right so I moved the heavy weight to the toe on the 7iron only, and it instantly improved my strike and the ball flight neutraled out. The sole design on the Pro version is unlike anything I have ever seen and the turf interaction is perfect. The sole on the standard version has some trail edge relief and they play much thinner than it looks. They might be the best-engineered irons on the market.

Brilliant review of new Edel irons. identifying any (good golfer's) normal iron face hit impact location (I'm out towards the toe as well) and where backweight placement options would benefit the most is outstanding. Sound from your hits of forged irons was sweet. Well done. Gary

Hey Mr SG, I think I speak for tons of people in saying, we have thoroughly enjoyed your breakdown of some of the best/most iconic swings on YT in FP and Rick. Not because I think he’s one of the best golfers on YT but I think it would be awesome to see you breakdown Bubbies golf swing. I mean I love watching the mechanics of the golf swing but that certainly has to be one of the most unique I’ve ever seen. Would love to see your take on that.

When I was fitted for my Callaway Apex irons, each iron's lie angle was individually adjusted. So how does Edel's CG adjustments work with lie angle adjustments? Or is lie angle set across the set and CG used to fine tune?
@robouchard86 Жыл бұрын
Did you get fit for lie angle and else, or you already knew your needs? Edel are very good with their fitting philosophy on putters, how are they with irons and wedges? Don’t they fit your best weight positions within their fitting, or it is something that you have to do yourself? Thanks

I think those clubs are awesome! I still use my Warrior Custom Golf clubs from around 2000 and they hit fine. I know there's immense improvements in technology over the years but I have yet to find that next set for a killer deal AND I play so rarely that I can't justify the cost of new clubs. Mr. SG, could you try a lighter weight to the heel then heavier weights in the middle and toe positions? Or, no weight in the heel and light in the middle and heavy toe? Thanks Sir, I look forward to all the progress videos with your new clubs.

Not going to lie, I always looked at these type of irons weirdly. The concept is growing on me though, being able to be your own club fitter is actually really Cool. Your swing can always change too and to be able to change on the fly is an awesome option. I also never really liked the look of PXG especially their logo Lol that's just me but man these irons look super clean. Logo I love and actually could get behind them! Thanks for the review 🙏🏾🔥🤙🏾

@@ThrifTeeGolf sure. But I've fallen into the trap of adjusting adjustable clubs before a round, only to realise I've screwed it up and now have to play with it/them for the rest of the round. Maybe there's too many variables for us to tinker with nowadays?
@ThrifTeeGolf Жыл бұрын
@@GreenDistantStar I mean I would say that you would practice at the range a good amount of times on that one setting so that you have no question once you actually play it's the right setting. It's just like if you got club fitted, no matter what you're going to have to use that. At least with this (in my opinion of course) those times when you change your swing thought and what not you can adjust the weights accordingly. Just have to practice a bunch on one setting and settle in. At least that's how I would go about it

Any concerns re: weights loosening and falling out? Can’t use loctite until you’re dialed in, but then what happens when you get older? Do the weights “click” twice when tight as with woods? Also how’s the prep for the tour coming? Still going to try it?😊
@MrShortGame Жыл бұрын
No Click but they are very secure
@tyrelsimpson152 Жыл бұрын
That click sounds is the torque wrench and not the wood itself.

@bobrekiel Жыл бұрын
No click and they are very secure. I've set my wedges up with just an average twist pressure months ago and they haven't loosened at all. In fact , I'd worry more about damage from over tightening the weights if anything. Overall, it's a great club and great system.

I like these irons. They feel good but they are not as good as my Mizuno JPX 923 Tour (for me). That being said the SMS Pro seemed more forgiving to be but the way they were setup had a little too much draw bias. I did like how soft these feel.

This has been tested time and time again with robot testing your not changing the COG enough to have any effect on the golf ball with that minimal amount of weight. You could take all 14 grams and move it to the toe and it wouldn’t move cog hardly at all. Hence why titleist started marketing for you to put the weight behind where u strike the ball on the face rather than trying to change a ball flight.

I wouldn’t trust the weights staying out. My Callaway Apex hybrid has a weight that loosens up over time and requires tightening. I would be so paranoid that I would tighten weights before every round on something like this.
@The_Madd_Golfer Жыл бұрын
At first glance, they looked like the PXG irons. Very interesting concept for irons, since (as you said) this tech has been used for years in drivers. I'm wondering if you get that "click" when you screw in the weights or if they are just normal screws and if so, if they would have a danger of getting loose and falling out while playing
@johnblackburn4759 Жыл бұрын
The click you're familiar with is the from the wrench not the screws. It's a torque wrench. It won't let you over tighten the screw.
@The_Madd_Golfer Жыл бұрын
@@johnblackburn4759 Thanks John, I know that as I've owned those drivers before. I was just commenting if the screws on the irons were of a similar type so you could use the wrench instead of what looks like a regular allen wrench. I probably worded my comment incorrectly.

Love the channel and I appreciate that you have to pay bills…

I played zb forged for the last 10 plus years and decided that I needed to modernize my clubs. First I bought ap2's but I didn't like them at all. Over the winter I got a set of 735's and I like them much better. The only problem I have is shots that are only slightly off center on the toe side , the ball goes nowhere. Having that weight on the toe would be a great option. Him saying that these have a nice thin top edge would be good for anyone who currently plays a blade. My question is price
