Track and field was a classic against your friends. Mario Bros was one that I only played on the C64. There wasn't a machine in our local arcades at the time. Same with Jr. Pacman as I never seen it or the baseball game in the arcade. I can't believe these are all 40 years old. Dang man that makes me feel old. haha. Good work as always Tom.

The old Arcade games of the 1970's and 1980's are retrospectively still legendary and inspiring 😺👍🕹️. I even have the original Arcade games for my PlayStation 2 with these compilations: - MIDWAY ARCADE TREASURES - MIDWAY ARCADE TREASURES 2 - TAITO LEGENDS - TAITO LEGENDS 2 - ATARI ANTHOLOGY I still own and play the original hardwares of the Commodore 64 (tapes / disks / cartridges) and Amiga 500. And i also had my retrospective 40th birthday this year's June (born in 1983) 😹👍🕹️. And this video deserves a big retrospective like 👍 from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮 😺👍🕹️.

@@FloppyDeepDive Yeah, it felt a little weird at first playing it with a beer tap.. but after a few quarters it clicked and felt right. Up until then I had only played the C64 version. I don't remember if I was 21 at the time or if I just snuck in and started playing. Nobody hassled me so I either looked almost old enough or nobody cared.

Love your original c64 monitor in back. I purchased one of those 3rd party CRT. It has the commodore logo, so it's licensed, but it not the one made by commodore. It's dead, but when I get time I will bring it back to life :). Right now my my vic and c64 are hooked up to a small 10" crt, and 13" crt TV's. I remember how clear the screen looked to c64 monitor back in the day. I wonder what I would think now compared to my crt tv.

I must agree with at least Mario Bros, Star Wars, Dragon's Lair and Track & Field because they are in my basement. I would put Elevator Action (also in my basement) and Gyruss in before some of the last ones in your list. After that there are a lot of good games to choose from : Arabian, Cloak & Dagger, Congo Bongo, Discs of TRON, Crossbow, Juno First, Exerion, M.A.C.H. 3, Motorace USA, Mr. Do's Castle, Crystal Castles, Krull, Mad Planets, Mappy and more. I didn't see Jr Pac very often back in the day... I think by then people were tired of Pac type games. But it is a fun game. I don't remember them being big games, but Major Havoc and Blaster have kind of achieved cult status because of their rarity and gameplay. Another rare game from 1983 that I remember playing was Star Rider, a laser disc game from Williams. It was a racing game that I probably more fondly than it really deserved to be. It was notoriously hard to keep running. I only ever saw it once and it wasn't at the arcade long. Thanks for the video!

@@FloppyDeepDive Someday I will post a walkthrough of the basement arcade on my channel. I feel like it needs voice over to explain some things but I don't like doing it. There are some interesting stories (at least I think so) behind a few of the games in the arcade.

Track and Field really ate my quarters all the way into the 90s. My local arcade had the trackball version and i always played it until i moved in 1993. I never did conplete a single high jump though on that cabinet. Beyond that mostly good games here. I never liked the laserdisc games and never seen the baseball game. I remember played jr pacman in the late 80s on a cabaret but was terrible at it, and always played Star Wars whenever there was one available.

So I am a fabricator by trade. I built a very close 3/4 scale replica of starwars arcade cab. Got the yoke from GRS,3d printed the unique side pylons. And for the rest of it I built in my own shop. If you have seen the arcade 1up starwars. Well I wanted one. But glad I did not get one. It was fun to build my own, and it truly is very close to the original. I even made the coin doors, but did scale them down to 3/4" also. At first glance I think one could be fooled.
