I love being able to raise my babies in Germany 🥰 in addition to the amazing healthcare system and support, there are so many incredible baby products here worth sharing with the world.
I asked other international moms what they loved most and which German baby products just made sense to them… here’s what they had to say! 🙃

I don't agree with even the statement that Germany is "basically one cultural area", let along taking the other countries into the list. Hi Jenna, instead of the Thermo Mix, have a look at the "Philips Avent 2-in-1 Baby Mixer, Kombination Babynahrung Dampfgarer und gesunde Lebensmittel Maker". I gave it to my daughter and it was well used for my grandchild. Personally, In the past, I imported a lot of "onesies" from the US when my kids were babies. The German system at the time (30 years ago) had impossible "Jäckschen", etc. that you had to tie and untie. It was as a real pain. In the meantime, you can also get "Bodies" here. I love the snaps as opposed to ties.

Search for "Wollwalk". This is the stuff the onsies are made of. DM just had them in store the orher day. Now is the perfect time to look for 2nd hand. My son attended a Waldkindergarten and wore Wollwalkhosen till he aged out. Wool can take a lot of moisture and water and still keep them warm. Wollwalk is even suitable for snow if it was taken care of properly.

As a German guy, I can say for sure: Thermomix is totally overpriced, like all stuff from Vorwerk. There are a lot of similar products from different brands, who are way cheaper and quite as good as the Thermomix. Sometimes you can get a real snapper from Aldi or Lidl.
@Quotenwagnerianer
@Quotenwagnerianer Жыл бұрын
And that is complete BS. The stuff from Aldi and Lidl is way cheaper for obvious reason. The Thermomix, as overpriced as it is, will likely last you a lifetime without ever going kaputt. THe cheap knock-offs will likely not last longer than 5 years.

The Full body suit for Winter is not typically made of merino wool since merino is only one kind of wool. So it's 'just' sheep wool. But the special thing is that it's something called Wollwalk, so the wool is very thick and warm. It's also naturally waterproof. Just wanted to correct that info. But it was so interesting for me as a German to see what might be common in Germany that other countries might not know since for me its just normal. Thanks for the insight!

We used Weleda until we found out, it is a anthroposophical company. Then we finished the current tube and bought other creams, we didn't notice quality differences. I think Weleda is only big, because it is hyped by German midwives and everyone wants the best for their kid, so they listen to the midwives. Same goes for globules and other homeopathic products, nobody uses them until they have little kids and they get stuffed with this by midwives and some pediatricians.

Whats wrong with Weleda products? They are not homeopathic.
@hinekde
@hinekde Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisTian-rm7zm I did not say that Weleda products are homeopathic but antroposophic. The fertilizer for their products is made by hollowing out a cow horn, filling it with manure and burying it. Later, similar to homeopathic remedies, the manure is diluted with water under a certain rite and then used as fertilizer. Weleda has long paid someone to silence critics through defamation. Antroposophy is a racist and ableist doctrine, and I do not want to give money to a company that represents such a thing.
@cosi4683
@cosi4683 Жыл бұрын
Who cares if they are antrophosophical, as long as it's a good product?! But that's easily found out by reading the ingredient list on the back. Weleda has plenty other products that are for adults and as such marketed for adults. I didn't even know they have baby stuff until recently.

Do you know why the bear is called "Teddy". I thought all people from North America heard about the story, but if you didn´t here it´s in short: the former US President Theodore Roosevelt was on a hunting trip. During this trip he refused to shoot a tethered bear. The incident was captured by the cartoonist C. K. Berryman and published in the Washington Post. Inspired by this story the nephew of Mrs Steiff created a bear and they named it after President Roosevelt "Teddy". All the best for you and your pregnancy!

You forgot something! The "Biberbetttuch"!!! The Biberbettuch is only fixed at the end of the bed. The Biberbetttuch gets the more fluffy and cosy the older it becomes. It is for the winter time and all alone in summer too. It's comparable to the towel Linus from Peanuts wears around all the time. It's always a tragedy when your mom tells you that your favorite Biberbetttuch has to be replaced!

The Z is too similar to the C, so it gets a D or T at the end, in almost all languages, maybe from zeta, the Greek Z. And think of the English W (double V) or in German there is no pronunciation for y, so we use the Greek "ypsilon", which makes the ABC song hard at the end.
